Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and we developed a size chart to help you choose a size based upon your waist and inseam. The size chart below is partially ours and partially REV’IT’s chart. The largest waist size listed in the chart are with the waist adjusters full open. The waist size adjustment straps work pretty well to give you size adjustability… we estimate about 2” as the range indicates.

As you can see in the chart, the pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so choose the inseam you normally wear in slacks or jeans. The pants also have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length) which can be accessed by pulling each leg inside out (see our photo gallery for a pic of this). Velcro allows you to set the armor in different spots and you can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best.

Pant Size Waist Range Inseam Reg Inseam Short Inseam Tall
Small 28-30 33 - -
Medium 31-33 33 31 35
Large 34-36 34 32 36
XL 37-39 34 32 36
XXL 40-42 34 32 36
XXXL 42-44 35 - -

Measurement tip: With a style like this that MAY be used as an overpant, you’ll want to measure your waist over the clothing you intend to wear under the pants. And measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles (so relying just upon the size jeans you buy might result in motorcycle pants that are too small). Right below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.

Our Two Cents

The Defender Pro jacket and pants from REVIT are a heavy duty touring or adventure outfit that is built for the widest range of temps. Full armor is included in the pants with CE level 2 armor in the knees and level 1 armor in the hips.

The shell of these pants is a mix of heavy duty textile materials. Other pant products in this price range are made of a textile fabric with Gore-Tex bonded to the material to achieve waterproofing capability. Those are excellent products, but this pant offers the heavy duty textile shell with the Gore-Tex liner that zips inside and is removable. What’s the difference? Well, standard textile materials without the bonded Gore-Tex are more flexible, lighter and will allow some degree of breathability as compared to fabrics with a bonded, permanent GoreTex liner. So if you want a rugged pant like this that will move you into summer months, then this setup with the removable Gore-Tex liner will work better.

And not only is the basic shell more breathable, but REVIT has incorporated two large thigh vents into this pant. Its not just a zippered vent, but its a whole panel that opens and folds back to expose are pretty large area on the front of your leg to grab the passing air. Those panels stay closed with Velcro so all you have to do to deploy the venting is grab the edge of the flap and yank it open. And then secure the corner of the flap to the snap that is built in. You could do it easily without looking. On the side of each thigh is a vertical zipper to allow air to pass through.

The overall look of these pants is typical of high-end adventure or touring pants and would work with a variety of jackets but are specifically make to match the Defender Pro GTX jacket (see the link below) The pants have both a short rear and long zipper at the waist to make them compatible with REVIT jackets. Also, you can use REVIT’s Strapper Suspenders (see the link below). Those suspenders are a great product to use with heavy duty pants like this. You can comfortably keep them up on your waist without cranking down the waist.

Like nearly all quality adventure styles, these pants have panels of suede leather on the inside lower leg. Those are made to give you a “grippy” surface to interface with your bike. They’ll also wear a lot longer than if you used bare textile materials in those areas.

CE level 2 armor is used in the knees and level 1 in the hips, which about as heavy duty as it gets. Large reflective panels are incorporated into the graphic design on the outside of the leg to give you some visibility at night. Like other REVIT pant styles, the waist on these pants is adjustable and they have the best waist closure in the business….the “slide lock” (see the pictures). The lower legs are fully adjustable with snaps and Velcro strips. And those leg ends are big enough to work with even the most serious adventure boots, or touring boots as well. :: Paul, 10-18-18

REVIT says: This 2 layer construction makes the Defender Pro GTX trousers suitable for comfortable riding in all types of weather. the GORE-TEX® membrane with Micro Grid Backer technology will keep wind and water out and is extremely comfortable to wear. Furthermore these trousers are equipped with ventilation panels and zippers, grip panels, long and short connection zippers, and plenty of adjustment straps all incorporated for your convenience when on the road.
