Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these pants and found the basic waist and inseam measurements offered by Oxford’s sizing chart to be accurate. Please refer to the “natural waist” listing in the chart called Men’s Measurement guide.

Chose a pant size using Oxford’s chart that will be big enough for your waist and which approximates the inseam. Keep in mind that most jeans are “vanity” sized, meaning they measure out 1” or 2” larger than the stated sized. If you only know your jean’s size and don’t know your actual waist size, then I’d suggest you measure using our guide below. These pants are a higher waist cut pant so they’ll ride just below your belly button which is a bit higher on your waist than regular jeans. The waist of the pants closes with a Velcro tab in front which you can snug down the pants about 2” at most. But the pants also come with suspenders, so you don’t have to wear these very tight if you opt to use the suspenders.

The inseam on these pants measures out at about 32”. There is only one option for inseams, so hopefully, that will work for you.

The leg ends are quite large much like other “adventure” riding pants so they will accommodate larger boot tops. There is a Velcro tab at the end of the leg so you can snug down the leg end for almost any kind of boot or shoes. It has a pretty wide adjustment range.

Our Two Cents

Oxford Spartan pants are an all-purpose textile riding pant with a removable thermal liner along with a permanent rain liner to make them waterproof. Knee armor and a suspender kit is included.

Wow, what a bargain these pants are! For under a hundred bucks, I’m amazed and what you get! The shell is a basic textile material that feels sturdy. And behind the shell is a fixed waterproof liner to make them waterproof. There isn’t any venting so consider these pants for mild to cold weather use. In the summer, you’ll burn up so don’t go there. In the colder months, you can install the removable thermal liner than comes with them. The liner will give another layer of insulation.

Simple molded rubber knee armor is included with the pants. There is no option for hip armor, but there are some thinner pads sewn into the hip area you can see on the outside. Those add a bit of style too.

One really nice feature here I wasn’t expecting is a removable suspender set. I’m personally a fan of those and to get those on a pant that costs under $100 is just amazing. Heck, we sell suspender sets in other brands that can be half as much as this whole pant setup.

I highly recommend this pant just on shear value. I think these would be great for every-day use for commuting or touring. They’re nothing fancy but they’ll work. :: Paul, 08-01-19
