Sizing Information

I measured a selection of these pants and found the waist size of the pants to measure out consistently at 2” larger than the stated size. Most men’s jeans will be sized this way these days…. it’s called vanity sizing. We recommend you measure your waist or the waistband of your favorite jeans to see what size pants you need. The waist sizes for each pant size can be adjusted down by 2 to 3 inches with the side waist adjusters. The pants are also fitted with belt loops so you can use those with a belt if you like

Inseam on the regular size pants is about 33” and inseam on the tall size pants is about 35”.

Here is a chart I put together to show you how each pant size measures out so you can select the size based upon what you come up with when you measure yourself.

Pant Size Max Waist Size Inseam Regular Inseam Tall
30 32 33 -
32 34 33 35
34 36 33 35
36 38 33 35
38 40 33 35
40 42 33 35

Our Two Cents

The Fly Racing Terra Trek pant is a great, budget riding pant for touring riders or commuters. The pants are a solid textile design and have an integrated waterproof/breathable liner. They also have a removable thermal liner which can be used in cold temps. The solid textile construction and the integrated liner means the shell will be excellent at blocking the wind. These pants will be very effective in cold to mild weather use, and of course wet weather use.

The pants do have a couple zippered vents on the front/side of the thighs and a couple like-sized zip vents on the back of the thigh. The front zip vents are attached to an elastic cord located inside the thigh pocket. When the zip vent is open and you adjust the cord, it sort of props the vent open to allow better air flow. Its a neat feature really. These vents will move some air through the pants, but I’d consider this venting to be moderate, so I don’t think you’ll want to be in these pants in summer heat, but I think you’ll like them for mild or maybe even warm weather.

The materials used in these pants feels sturdy and the overall build quality looks and feels good considering the very reasonable price. The pants have two zip-close hand warmer pockets and a couple thigh pockets (positioned like cargo pants would be). All four pockets are built to be waterproof. The thigh pockets look like they’d be more waterproof than the upper pockets since they are fitted with a flap that lays over the zipper.

The pants have a leg zipper that stars at the ankle and goes up to the knee. I think you’ll be able to get the pants on and off over shoes or moderate size boots. If you wear really clunky boots, it might be a struggle. But for most, these pants should work well as either “stand alone” pants or as overpants. The leg ends have a couple Velcro adjusters so you can fit the pant legs to your liking over the boots or shoes.

These pants come with typical molded knee armor pieces, and those are located in pockets that are adjustable in two positions to help you position the height of the armor to fit your knee when you are in a seated position. Keep in mind that the armor nearly all motorcycle pants will down down lower on your leg when standing so you’ll want to make your adjustments and evaluate fit while in the riding position. The pants are also fitted with some simple foam pads in the hips.

I think you’ll agree that these pants offer a very full list of features and have good materials and build quality for the price range. Please take a look at our photo gallery to see the features listed here and more! :: Paul, 09-19-17
