Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these pants of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other pants/jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist and pretty true in the length. Across the size run, the actual measured waist was about 2” larger than the stated waist size (typical vanity sizing). My overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths measured out about right or just a fraction of an inch short as compared to the stated size, BUT there are a couple considerations here… first, these jeans come standard with knee armor and the knees are reinforced with a layer of an abrasion resistant material. Those two features add a bit of thickness and when you sit, that means the inseam gets a bit shorter than you might expect. Another issue is that these jeans taper significantly from knee to ankle… sort of a slim cut and when I’ve seen the guys at REV’IT wear these, they are in the habit of rolling up the ends a bit and there is a strip of reflectivity on the inside near the hem which shows when you roll them up. So considering the tapered end, the knee armor issue and the reflectivity, I’d recommend you buy one size longer than you normally wear. If you aren’t into the rolled up look and don’t care about the little strip of reflectivity, you’ll probably be fine with buying the inseam you normally wear.

Our Two Cents

Here’s a new great looking cargo style pant with a tapered leg and plenty of protection. These Cargo pants are almost identical to REVIT’s Alpha RF pants from 2018, but with cargo styling instead of Chino styling.

The fabric used in these pants is like Dockers material on steroids. Its mostly cotton, but is woven with stretch Cordura to make them viable as motorcycling protective apparel. The “heft” is about like a Carhartt jacket, but the material has a smoother finish, and with the Cordura blended in, they don’t want to wrinkle like plain cotton. The insides are lined in the seat and past the knee with black thin cotton material for comfort. There is a layer of abrasion resistant fabric between the cotton liner and the outer shell, so considering the tough shell material, the extra layer inside and then the armor, these will be about as good at protecting you as any riding jean or pant we offer. The pants come with a set of knee armor and have pockets for hip armor if you want to add it. The Seesmart armor offered for these pants is relatively thin and VERY flexible and will be a perfect match for pants like this.

We don’t often see a cargo style with a tapered leg, so these are unique in that regard. The leg is slim fit only past the knee. The thigh and seat are “normally” sized. The opening at the end of the leg measures about 7” when laid flat (on the size 34), so you can compare that leg opening size to other pants you have. A tapered leg like this works great with shorter boots and riding shoes, but you’ll want to measure to see if they’ll go over your boots if yours have bulky tops.

The overall feel of this pant is very sturdy and I think they’ll last a long time. :: Paul, 02-27-20

REVIT says: Building upon the warm welcome our Alpha chinos received when introduced, we’ve added true cargo trousers to our collection, and of course, they’re 100% motorcycle ready. Stretch Cordura® canvas is combined with our PWR|shield knit to offer unsurpassed abrasion resistance. The slim fit Cargo stays true to its namesake archetype, meaning you will find a big stash pocket on both legs, along with style and storage; as you’d expect from this type of garment. Adding to the protection side of things, the Cargo comes equipped with our renowned CE-rated SEESMART™ protectors at the hips and knees.
