Sizing Information

I measured a selection of these pants and found the waist size of the pants to measure out consistently at 2” larger than the stated size. Most men’s jeans will be sized this way these days…. it’s called vanity sizing. We recommend you measure your waist or the waistband of your favorite jeans to see what size pants you need. The waist sizes for each pant size can be adjusted down by 2 to 3 inches with the side waist adjusters.

Inseam on the regular size pants is about 33” and inseam on the tall size pants is about 35”.

Here is a chart I put together to show you how each pant size measures out so you can select the size based upon what you come up with when you measure yourself.

Pant Size Max Waist Size Inseam Regular Inseam Tall
32 34 33 35
34 36 33 35
36 38 33 35
38 40 33 35
40 42 33 -

Our Two Cents

Klim’s Switchback cargo pants are a great pant to give comfort and protection for riders of all kinds. They have a unique style and plenty of storage. D3O armor is included for the knees and hips so there is nothing else to buy.

Among our “Reinforced Jeans and Cargo” department, these Switchback pants are a bit of a different animal. I really liked them when trying them on. They are a cargo design, but not overly baggy, but they are loose enough to be comfortable. The “look” is unique too. The Brown color reminds me of a hunter’s pant, but they grey gives a more “moto” vibe which would make them go well with a lot of adventure style jackets.

The non-crash prone areas of this pant us a lighter breathable fabric which should be good for warm weather use. The pants have two zip vents on the sides of the thigh alongside the cargo pocket which you can use to allow better air flow. The leg end zipper is two-way so you can lower the zip from the top down to allow more air flow down at the ends of the legs too. The knees and seat are covered in heavier material to make them more abrasion resistant in those areas. The pants feel very competent in that regard… they definitely aren’t cheap or thin feeling.

The leg design will work with just about any boot. There is a snap adjustment at the end of pant let to adjust the overall size. And there is a zipper at the end of the leg which will help you get the pants on/off. Its not a tall zipper, but you might even be able to get the pants on and off over shoes with the zipper up (in case you want to wear them as overpants).

These pants have more than most in the pocket department. I see two large cargo patch pockets on the thigh and then there are two hand pockets in front and two zip pockets on the back. I also like that the pants have belt loops so you can use your own belt to get a comfortable fit.

Armor is included in the knees and hips. It is the D3O brand armor so it will be comfortable. The armor in the knees is adjustable with Velcro so you can move it up or down and side to side to get the best fit when you are in the saddle. You reach the knee armor by reaching down in the pocket below the thigh cargo pocket which is a handy thing. Most pants require that you take the pants off to fine tune them, but with these pants you’ll be able to do that while wearing them.

I really like this pant overall. You can’t really peg what “style” or type of pant they are, but I think they’d work for a lot of people’s needs… commuter, adventure riders, everyday street riders, etc. :: Paul, 03-22-19
