Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist. Across the size run, the actual measured waist is just about 2” larger than the stated size which is typical vanity sizing. And of course these are denim and may shrink just a tad too. The jeans have pockets in the hips for the addition of the Pro-Shape hip protectors (see link below). The hip armor is quite thin and flexible so I don’t think they’ll make a difference in the size choice of jeans if you choose to wear them. So my overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths measured out to be a bit longer than average at about 34” to 35”. These are made a little longer than average with the idea you could roll them up at the cuff. Inside the cuff is a strip of reflective material for night time visibility. The pant legs are a simple design and could be hemmed.

Our Two Cents

The Dainese Trento Slim jeans are a slim fit stylish jean with protection features built in, but one that doesn’t look like a motorcycle pant at all. This jean has a standard to slim seat and very tapered legs. Functionally, this jean is VERY similar to the Todi slim jean except it doesn’t have the visible stitches below the knee, so they look more like “street” pants and less like motorcycle-specific jeans.

Those who want very skinny legs on a motorcycle riding pat will like these. The seat and waist have pretty good room… similar to several other jeans we’ve tried on from Dainese. The fly closure on these pants is a zipper where many of the other styles from Dainese are a button fly. The tailoring on the back pockets on this one is simple.

The armor installed in the knee pocket is the very thin flexible Pro-shape armor. Many jeans use this type of armor. It’s thin and of course isn’t going to be as impact protective as thicker armor, but with a jean, most people don’t want armor that shows through the fabric, so in than regard, this armor is perfect, especially for a slim fitting jean like this. There are pockets at the hip that will accept matching hip armor. Just take the link below to purchase. Aside from the armor, the pants are reinforced in the seat hips with Kevlar fabric. Take a look at our “inside out” pic to see that.

Note: The knee armor pocket does not have an adjustable height feature. We found the height to be good for an average height rider. I’d recommend these jeans for those who normally wear a 32” to 34” inseam. The pants have a pretty long inseam and Dainese intends for you to roll those up an inch or two for style, but also because they’ve put reflective material on the underside of the fabric at the end of the leg for night time visibility.

The fabric in these jeans has been pre-washed and they are very flexible and comfortable. These will be great looking on or off the bike. :: Paul, 04-08-19

Dainese says: The Dainese Trento Slim Jeans make no compromises between style and protection. Elasticity built into the denim helps ensure a slim, but comfortable fit that still holds up to abrasion thanks to localized aramid fiber reinforcement. CE rated Pro-Armor at the knees absorbs impact energy. Pro-Shape hip armor is sold separately, but it can be added to hip pockets to supplement the impact protection. The Dainese Trento Slim Jeans’ slim fit and fashionable design disguise motorcycle specific features like reflective inserts and rivet-less construction.
