Sizing Information

Have a look at the sizing chart below to help you choose a size. This chart is provided by Speed and Strength.

I have a size XL here in the office and we took the close up photos on our sizing mannequin Shirley which is a women’s size Large/dress size 12. This shirt fits about right, so based on what I see so far, I’d say this product is running small by about one size.

I measured the chest on this size XL shirt at at about 39” max and the mid-section at about .38” max. and the hip area has a max size of 39”. From these measurements, it looks like the size XL shirt measured out like a size large according to the size chart. Of course a shirt like this won’t have the tapered cut like a sport jacket, so disregard the “waist” measurement in the chart as it is not applicable to a shirt style like this.

Size Bust Waist Hip
XS 31 24-25 35-36
Small 33-34 26-27 37-38
Medium 35-36 28-29 39-40
Large 37-39 30-31 41-42
XL 40-42 32-34 43-44
2XL 42-44 34-36 44-45
3XL 45-48 37-39 46-49

Our Two Cents

The Brat Armored shirt by Speed and Strength is a simply styled flannel shirt for women with reinforcements and armor. The flannel material is heavy weight and very comfortable feeling.

This shirt includes a second layer of Aramid material in the shoulder and elbow area to beef up its ability to hold up against a fall. I’d recommend this shirt for mild to cooler weather because of the overall weight of the flannel. There are no venting or waterproofing features, so this shirt is for “fair” weather use.

The front closure has a row of snaps, but behind that is a full front zipper for safety reasons. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows. It is a molded Knox armor which should be pretty comfortable to wear. The back is fitted with a simple foam back pad. An armored shirt like this won’t provide protection like an engineered motorcycle jacket, but with the armor and reinforcements it is far better than a plain shirt, and the armor included is “light” type armor that is appropriate for the shirt construction.

The inside of this shirt is fully lined with a slippery nylon material so the shirt should slide on over your undershirt easily. With the full lining, I’d call this a “shirt jacket”. :: Paul, 10-29-19

Speed and Strength says: For those days when it’s too chilly for cut sleeves and a bit too warm for leather, this Aramid Reinforced Yarn Dyed Flannel packs protection with Removable Knox Lite CE Armor in the Shoulders and Elbows, and handles high gear with a Hidden Main Zipper with Snaps. Hidden Snap Collars avoid wind flapping while YKK Zippered Hand Pockets, Chest Storage Pockets with Snaps, and an Internal Storage Pocket mean you don’t have to leave anything behind.
