REV'IT! Voltiac 2 Jacket For Women

We used a size 42 on our Fit Check Mannequin Shirley who is a standard size Large, Dress size 12. The jacket measured out correctly at 38” max chest. The cut of a longer touring style like this means the mid-torso of the jacket doesn’t taper down much at all from the chest size, but there are side waist adjusters that snug down the sides to fit well. This jacket also has adjustments on each side of the torso down low to help get a good fit over the hips.

The Voltiac 2 jacket by REVIT is new for 2019 and it is an upgrade of the original Voltiac. We began selling the original Voltiac in 2014 and have nothing but good things to say about it. The Voltiac 2 is a “value priced” touring and commuter jacket from REVIT. It has a nice list of “essential” feature, but leaves many bells and whistles and expensive materials behind. This keeps the pricing very reasonable. REVIT makes nice stuff and their overall build quality is very high, so even though this one isn’t one of their fully loaded models, it still has the same basic quality you find in all their models. In comparing this version 2 to the original version, I see a slight re-style with new armor and better night time reflectives.

This jacket is well suited for mild to cold weather use in either rain or shine. It is fitted with a fixed rain liner to keep you dry and a removable thermal liner with full sleeves you can use when the weather is colder. LOTS of touring jackets offer the “fixed” rain liner setup. The liner is permanently installed between the jacket’s outer shell and the inside lining. And this type of rain protection will give you the very best chance at keeping water out because there are no paths for water to get past the liner such as zippers, snaps, stitching, etc through the liner.

There are a couple front zip vents, but since the rain liner permanently resides behind those vents, the rain liner won’t allow the air flow to pass through completely to your skin. For that reason, I recommend this jacket for cold to warm weather. I don’t think it will be comfortable in hot weather. If you need a jacket that will work farther into the hot months, I’d suggest a jacket with a removable rain liner and more extensive venting. Some of the VERY premium jackets are built with a shell that is backed by a rain liner bonded to the shell with zip vents that flow directly through, but those can be twice the price of the Voltiac. One school of thought is to pair this jacket along with a separate full mesh jacket for hot summer days. You could probably buy both for the price of more expensive “four season” models. Anyway, for this jacket’s intended use, its a great value.

I mentioned the night time reflectives… I see large strips worked into the graphic design of this jacket all the way around,which is a welcome safely upgrade. As for armor, this jacket comes with REVITs SeeSoft CE level 1 armor in the shoulders and elbows. Inside the jacket is a pocket to add a back pad. In the back of the jacket, there is a short rear zipper so you can attach the jacket to REVIT pants. Also available is the Safeway belt which allows you to connect the jacket to jeans. The collar is nice too. It is banded with neoprene material so it is soft against your neck and it is also adjustable with the sliding snap you can see in the pictures.

I think everyday riders, commuters or even riders going long distance will enjoy this jacket. The quality is very good and the price is reasonable. The armor included is premium stuff and with a back pad, this jacket will offer very good impact protection. :: Paul, 02-25-19
