Sizing Information

Please have a look at Olympia’s standard size chart to chose a size.

For our feature photos, we used a size 12 pant on our size mannequin Shirley who is a standard size 12. Take a look at the photo gallery so see how those fit by taking the View Larger Images link. The pants have two side expansion panels to give a bit of room in the waist and hip when sitting and you can use a belt with these pants to customize the fit. The size 12 Pants we have measure about 35” unstretched. The have side elastic so they’ll go a bit bigger if needed. They also have belt loops so you put a belt on and adjust how they fit. The inseam on this pair measures 33” which is confirmed by the size chart for a size 12.

Our Two Cents

Expedition 2 Pants For women are new in 2019 and are a great functional match with the new Expedition 2 jacket. The jacket and these pants share many features such as large venting panels and a waterproof liner which can be worn under or over the pants. They are made for a wide range of temps and conditions… rain or shine.

Each leg of these pants is fitted with very large zip-close panel and when you zip it open, there is free flow mesh material exposed to the wind. That panel folds neatly down into a storage area behind the knee so you don’t have to keep up with it. With the zipper panel closed, they function like solid textle pants so you can use the pants for a good three seasons… maybe even four if you have a garment to layer underneath.

The pants have the long side zippers so you can use these as overpants or just your main pant if you like. The side zippers are rugged and are installed all the way from the cuff to the waist band, so when you open up those zippers, you’ll easily be able to step into/out of the pants even with boots on. This construction is favored by commuters for the convenience. The outer shell of the pants isn’t made waterproof in its own, but the pants come with a rain liner. The pants are designed to be “over or under” meaning you can wear them over the pants or underneath. A lot of summer pants come with a removable rain liner than zips into the waist and is designed to go only underneath, so the “over or under” concept is a unique feature to Olympia. Looking at the design of the rain liner, I think you’ll opt to wear them over the pants in case of rain or to use them as a wind block. I say that for two reason… firstly, the rain pants don’t have a full length zipper like the pants and so you’ll lose the “overpant” functionality if you wear them under. Also wearing them over in the rain will keep the pants dry (as well as everything in your pockets).

Armor is included for the knees and hips. The knee armor is installed in pockets that adjustability for height so you can adjust that if necessary. We’ve included a shot of the armor in the photo gallery.

The main body of the pants is a mid-weight textile material that will serve you well should you go off the bike. And the insides of the legs are covered in very nice black leather. The leather will wear better than the textile in rubbing up against bike parts, and it will also be more heat resistant should you touch a hot pipe. The leather also give some pizzazz to the look of the pant.

Other nice features I see are zip close hand pockets in front. Its nice to have those positive closures on pockets on motorcycle gear so you don’t lose your stuff! Also, the pants have night time reflectives so you’ll be better seen at night. Take the link to our photo gallery to see those. The waist and hip area has a generous panel of accordion stretch material on each side to offer some “give” when you sit and you can fine tune the fit with a belt because the pants have belt loops. You also get a short rear zip connection that would be compatible with Olympia jackets. That zip comes with the mating half so you could adapt an existing jacket (with the help of a tailor).
