Sizing Information

This jacket is a standard cut street jacket and it fits a bit more relaxed than other Roland Sands styles. We measured a selection of sizes and also tried these on our fit test mannequins. Huey is wearing a medium and Dewey is in the XL. These are the sizes they normally wear. The fit looks good.

I’d advise to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. To make size selection easier, we’ve developed the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. If you have a bit of a belly, just make sure that the jacket you choose will be big enough for both your chest and belly.

Note: if you plan to add a back protector to this jacket, then add 1” to the chest/belly measurements before choosing a size.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 38 36
Medium 40 38
Large 43 41
XL 46 44
XXL 48 46
XXXL 51 49

Our Two Cents

The Roland Sands Waylon jacket is a new style for 2018. Its similar to the previous Ramone jacket, but this new version is fitted with Knox armor in the shoulders and elbows as standard. All the new 2018 models we’ve reviewed are now fitted with the Knox armor as standard. The jacket also includes provisions for adding the matching back pad. If you want the back protection, take the link below to add it to your order.

The shell of this Waylon jacket is a very heavy canvas riding jacket. It has a “farm and ranch” or maybe “trucker” jacket look about it. This jacket fits casually and comfortably and is mid length. Anybody would be comfortable with this style either on or off the bike,

The heavy canvas material used in this jacket feels really sturdy. Being 100% cotton I don’t think it will hold up in a slide like a Cordura product would, but it is thick so maybe it would do well. It does have a double layer of material on the elbows which will help with the abrasion resistance. The shoulders and collar are covered in a sharp suede material. The jacket has a snap front closure, but behind that is a full front zipper. The zipper is important to keep the jacket closed and on your body in case of a fall. If it only had the snaps, it would instantly fly open in a spill (not good), so the front zip is an important feature.

To help you reach for the controls on a bike, this jacket has an “action back” setup behind the shoulders, which is a common feature in casual motorcycle jackets. Those pleats will open up when you reach forward for the controls and leave you enough room across your shoulders in back.

I really do like the looks of this jacket. Be sure and take a look at the color options. :: Paul, 11-29-18

Roland Sands says: Classic utility styled jacket with premium features. The Waylon is RSD’s interpretation of the classic work jacket. Constructed of heavy weight duck cotton the Waylon is built for the ride. A clever and deliberate design detail is the suede application on the collar, shoulders and upper back that really give the Waylon a nice, premium touch. The front main zipper with snap down storm flap keeps the jacket intact at high speeds and the included KNOX™ Microlock™ molded armor keep the rider protected. Remove the armor and you have a stylish casual jacket.
