Sizing Information

This vest fits about like we’d expect for “normal” US men’s sizing. We measured a selection of sizes and also tried these on our fit test mannequins. Huey is wearing a medium and Dewey is in the XL. These are the sizes they normally wear. The fit is looks good.

I’d advise to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. To make size selection easier, we’ve developed the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. If you have a bit of a belly, just make sure that the vest you choose will be big enough for both your chest and belly.

Note: if you plan to add a back protector to this jacket, then add 1” to the chest/belly measurements before choosing a size.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 38 36
Medium 40 38
Large 43 41
XL 46 44
XXL 48 46
XXXL 51 49

Our Two Cents

The Ramone vest by Roland Sands is a textile vest with premium styling and materials. Plenty of pockets and the capability to hold a back protector are extra features

The Ramone comes in two versions… a “solid” fabric version sold on this page and a perforated waxed cotton fabric version. (Take the link below to see the perf waxed cotton version). Both are heavdy duty cotton materials. The solid one feels like the material you’d get on a heavy duty Carhartt jacket. In fact, the overall styling of the non-black colors in this jacket reminds me of a Carhartt style with the contrasting corduroy collar. Many men will love finding a leather alternative vest that feels like their favorite work jacket. The perforated wax cotton vest is a thinner waxed cotton material. The perforations are weaved into (or punched) to allow lots of air flow, so the perforated one would be the pick for use in hot weather. The waxed cotton fabric has a bit different feel to it… it almost feels like a thin sueded leather. It is soft and looks sharp.

The solid vest has a nice flashy satin liner and the perforated vest has a black mesh liner which allows the air flowing through those perfs to pass through. Both vests have the same pocket setup….four in front and three inside which is LOT of pockets for a vest! And both versions have a “action back” setup behind the shoulders. On jackets this is useful to help you reach forward without the jacket binding you up. It is still somewhat effective on a vest, but not as essential as with a jacket. But on the vest it looks sharp and they’ve added some bold stitching below the action back to add a little bit more interest.

Both versions of these vests has a pocket in the liner to hold the optional back protector. If you want that, take the link below to order separately. If you think the idea of a non-leather vest sounds good, then Ramone will give you two different material choices and colors within each style. I think it looks very nice. :: Paul, 03-20-18
