Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fit very well. I also verified some chest and belly measurements and found those to also be in line with what you’d normally find in American men’s clothing. So, we recommend you buy the size you normally wear in US men’s clothing.

You can also choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. We’ve put together the chart below so you can choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly. Our size estimates differ from REVIT’s published size chart for this jacket, so for clarification, the chart includes both sets of chest size estimates. We recommend you use our estimates.

This particular style doesn’t taper a whole lot from chest to waist… only about 2”, so most people won’t have to worry about whether the belly area will work for them, but for those who do have an ample belly, we list the max size for each alpha size so you can make sure the size you choose will work. This jacket has very effective size adjusters for the mid-torso area, so even if your waist/belly is much smaller than these max figures, you’ll be able to get a good fit.

Our Two Cents

The Safari 3 jacket by REVIT is an excellent touring length style for fall/winter/spring and is totally appropriate for wet weather in any of those seasons. Its a value priced item in REVIT’s lineup, but it has a great feature list and the same excellent build quality as all other REVIT jackets.

The shell of this jacket is a combination of abrasion resistant textile fabrics in a pattern that is sporty and sharp. It is fitted with a fixed rain liner to keep you dry and a removable thermal liner with full sleeves you can use when the weather is colder. The fixed rain liner arrangement is common in touring jackets like this. The liner is permanently installed between the jacket’s outer shell and the inside lining. And this type of rain protection will give you the very best chance at keeping water out because there are no paths for entrance such as zippers, snaps, stitching, etc through the liner. The flip side is that, although the jacket has some good zippered venting on the front and back, the rain liner won’t allow the air flow to pass through completely to your skin. For that reason, we recommend this jacket for cold to warm weather, but it won’t be comfortable in hot weather.

For storage, there are two large patch pockets in front and one inside patch pocket. Also, there is a large fanny pocket in back. The jacket comes with a full set of SeeFlex CE level 2 shoulder and elbow armor. The back pad pocket built in and you can choose a SeeSoft back protector as an option (see below).

The Safari includes sharp styling, a very good armor package and very good waterproofing capabilities. Its not the top of the line for REVIT, but the overall quality is comparable to higher end jackets. You’ll pay more for jacket styles with GoreTex and more elaborate venting and other features, but this one has MOST of the features you’ll need for every day commuting or touring. :: Paul, 09-25-18

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

REVIT says: The Safari 3 Jacket offers more ventilation than its predecessor thanks to larger ventilation panels and zippers. The fixed waterproof G-liner and polyester ripstop fabric provide riders with maximum comfort.
