Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is not a “sport” oriented style so there is not a lot of taper from chest to waist, and with a style like this you can effectively tailor the fit of the waist with the side waist adjusters, which makes the jacket look great and fit great, so don’t worry if your waist/belly is smaller than the max. We only list this for those that have a belly so they can know what minimum size they’d have to choose to fit the belly.

Sizing Tip for Those Using Upgraded Armor: Adding upgraded back protection and chest pads will take up some room in the jacket so when making your size selection add to your chest size if you plan on using the thicker back protection and/or chest protectors. I’d advise you to add 1” if you use an upgraded back pad and also an inch for chest pad upgrades. So if you plan on buying both, then add a full 2” to your chest size before making your size selection.

Our Two Cents

The Neptune 2 GTX jacket and pants from REVIT is an outfit designed for the street rider and commuter. The materials are a bit lighter than you’ll find on REVIT’s more “beefy” styles which are aimed at adventure riding. With lighter materials, you’ll be able to cover the four seasons with ease. Full armor is included with the jacket including CE level 2 armor in the shoulders and elbows AND the CE 2 back pad. The chest and back pads are optional.

As I mentioned, the shell of this jacket is sturdy, but not overly heavy, so you’ll be able to get in the gear, go where you want to go, and get out. This jacket offers separate layers to get you through all the weather conditions. There is the shell of course, then a GoreTex liner to keep out water and then finally the thermal layer too. Wear just the layers you need for the expected weather. Use all three layers for cold and wet weather and shed both liners for the high temps in summer. The Gore Tex layer is built so you can wear it outside the jacket which would be super handy on a trip. The thermal layer zips into the GoreTex liner so that could be worn off the bike too. The thermal liner is fully sleeve and very plushy so it should be plenty warm.

For summer use, REVIT has incorporated two large vents into the upper chest area. Its not just a zippered vent, but its a whole panel that opens and folds back to expose are pretty large area on front to grab the passing air. Those panels stay closed with Velcro and a side zipper so all you have to do to deploy the venting is raise the zip, grab the edge of the flap and yank it open. And then secure the corner of the flap to the snap that is built in. You could do it easily without looking. Also, to send some air up the sleeves, the zip at the end of the sleeve is “two way” so you can open it up and allow the air to flow. And then in back, there are two exhaust vents. You might want some evaporative cooling and REVIT offers the Challenger Cooling vest. Take the link below to check that out. It works great in hot and dry climates.

Check out the color choices. There are some sharp styles along with a neon for higher visibility. The jacket has both a short rear and long zipper at the waist to make them compatible with REVIT pants. The matching pants (see the link below) have a similar feature set so the climate compatibility will be similar.

Longer style jackets like this are easy to fit and this one has a nice selection of adjusters built in to help with that. There are straps on the lower arms and a snap at the bicep area. There are also the usual side torso adjustment straps to get a goof fit. There is even a sliding snap at the neck so you can adjust the collar.

CE level 2 armor is used in the shoulders and elbows. See below for instructions on ordering the optional back protector and/or chest protector. With the level 2 back pad and the front chest protectors installed, you’ll have quite the protection package. Reflective panels are incorporated into the graphic design on the front, sides and back to give you some visibility at night.

With the LONG feature list, the four season capabilities and the heavy duty armor options, this jacket ought to do just about anything you need it to do. :: Paul, 10-22-18

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

Add Chest Protectors: Choose the Seesoft Divided Chest Protector using the link below. One size fits all. You get two chest protector pieces. The two pieces install in pockets on each side of the jacket’s main front zipper.

REVIT says: The Neptune 2 GTX jacket is all about motorcycling. Pure and simple. We’ve created a garment that is perfectly geared to all-season riding, and for those wanting to commute 365 days a year. Underneath the extremely abrasion-resistant and highly breathable Teflon®-coated outer shell of the jacket, you will find a separately wearable and 100% waterproof GORE-TEX® jacket with Paclite® Technology. We’ve also added a detachable thermal liner to keep you warm on those colder mornings or when the weather takes a turn for the worse. Protection comes in the form of our award-winning SEEFLEX™ CE-level 2 armor, located at the shoulders and elbows. It’s also prepared for our SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector insert.
