Sizing Information
We put a Medium and XL on our two Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. We generally buy test jackets in a Medium for Huey and an XL for Dewey (41” and 45” chest respectively) assuming these jackets would fit “normally”, and were able to get them on the two mannequins, but it was a very tight fit (click the “View Larger Images” link above to see).
We measured both the max chest and belly of every size in this jacket and we find them to run consistently smaller than what you find with most alpha sized men’s jackets. Many of REVIT’s style are set up this way… particularly any styles that are part of their “urban” or “sport” collections. I’ve put together a chart for you to choose a jacket based upon your chest size (see below). And for most people, that means you’ll have to buy one size larger jacket than you normally wear in men’s clothing. I’d highly recommend you use a tape and measure yourself and then use the chart to choose the correct size.
Once you determine the correct size for you, the fit of the jacket is easy. The jacket has only a slight taper from chest to waist, which means most body types will do just fine with it, but the jacket has great size adjustment in the midsection so it looks good on even the trimmest body types. We’ve included a waist/belly measurement so you can make sure you are buying a jacket that is large enough for both your chest and belly.
Jacket Size | Max Chest | Our Estimate of Max Belly/Waist |
---|---|---|
Small | 38 | 36 |
Medium | 40 | 38 |
Large | 42 | 40 |
XL | 44 | 42 |
XXL | 46 | 44 |
XXXL | 48 | 46 |
Our Two Cents
The REVIT Burn jacket is a another in REVIT’s new line of casual jackets to combine motorcycle protective features in a more casual/urban packate. Its a functional three season jacket… winter, spring, fall and is fitting with a waterproof barrier. This jacket is functionally the same as the REVIT Flare jacket but with a different shell material.
The Burn jacket has uses a shell material that is different than most other textile motorcycle jackets we carry. It has a matte finish and material is noticeably softer than the textile nylon used in most other jackets. The material is also a bit stretchy so the fit is made easier and the jacket is immediately comfortable. I like the way the material has a nice slick finish to it without wrinkling even just being pulled from the packaging. I don’t think this material would be AS protective as a traditional abrasion resistant nylon (like what is used on the Flare), but it is quite thick and would be a whole lot better than other soft shell materials such as neoprene or cotton.
The jacket is fitted with standard Knox brand CE armor inserts for the shoulders and elbows and you can add a sturdy CE rated back pad if you like (see below). The jacket is a shorter waist design and fits trim (see our sizing advice above).
This jacket is made waterproof with an integrated waterproof liner which is situated between the jacket’s outer shell and inner lining. It will do a terrific job of keeping water out. The jacket has some vents on the sleeve ends and in back in the shoulder blade area, which will circulate air through the jacket, but over the waterproof liner. That ventilation will be only moderately effective to help with warmer weather since the air does not circulate completely through the jacket to your skin. It IS supplied with a very plushy full sleeve thermal liner that will give a lot of insulation against colder weather. I’d suggest this jacket for winter, fall and spring and all the wet weather in between. But for hot summer days, you’ll want to get yourself a nice full mesh jacket because this one will be a cooker.
This jacket also comes with the detachable hood which it really a styling thing… very urban as well. I can see it being welcome when off the bike, but for use on the bike, it will need to stay down since it isn’t made to go over or under a helmet. But to hold the hood down and keep it from flapping around at speed, it is anchored to the back of the jacket with a sturdy snap. And then, like I said, the hood zips completely off when you want to remove it entirely.
If you wanted something a bit different looking… something that has fresh modern styling and in a material that will feel more comfortable on or off the bike, this will be the one. :: Paul, 01-23-18
