REV'IT! Afterburn H2O Jacket

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is not a “sport” oriented style so there is not a lot of taper from chest to waist. I’d describe the fit as “casual”.

The Afterburn H2O Jacket by REVIT is new for fall of 2020. This is a good looking, modern style for everyday street use. It comes in both men’s and women’s sizing. Armor is included along with a removable thermal liner and a detachable hood.

I really like the look and feel of this new jacket. The fabric used reminds me of modern casual wear by new brands like Public Rec (one of my new favs). The colors are “flat” and the material is matte and has a nice softer touch. The colors offered are super easy to mix with anything else you wear. The jacket includes a removable hood, which is detachable. The hood isn’t the type you wear under a helmet, but with the hood, the jacket can be a fully functional jacket on the street as well as on the bike. And besides, some people like the look of a hood even if they aren’t using it.

This jacket is equipped with an integral waterproof liner so you can use it with confidence in the rain. The main zipper is backed by another overlapping zippered closure to keep water out. I’d recommend this jacket for colder to mild weather. It had a vest-type removable thermal liner you can use in the cold, and it also has a couple zip vents on the sleeve ends along with a vent situated in the back for exhaust. With the main zipper open some, and with the sleeve zips open, you could flow some decent air to get you through spring and fall, but it won’t be comfortable in really hot temps I’m afraid.

This jacket comes with SeeSmart armor in the shoulders and elbows which is extremely thin and flexible. Thin armor like this allows for a more low profile fit which works with a more casual style like this. You have the option to connect the jacket to REVIT motorcycle pants with the short rear zipper in the back/inside of the jacket liner. The short zipper can also work with REVIT’s Safeway belt which you can use when wearing the jacket with jeans (see link below).

A style like this makes sense for those that ride to work or school and may need a jacket throughout the day (off the bike). A style like this will work perfectly. Away from a motorcycle, nobody would even guess it is a protective jacket. :: Paul, 11-10-20
