Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. My advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

If you look at Icon’s chest size estimates for each jacket, you might be choosing a size larger than you normally wear (example a person with a 46 chest typically is an XL, but using Icon’s chart you’d buy an XXL). If you use our estimates of max chest, you’ll probably be choosing the size you normally wear.

Contrary to Icon’s marketing info which says this jacket has an “Icon Sport Fit”, which implies a snug torso and a large taper from chest to waist, I find this jacket to be pretty “relaxed” and therefore belly size won’t be a problem for most. But if you have a bit of a belly, you’ll want to get a measurement and make sure to choose a jacket large enough to work.

Size Icon’s Chest Est Our Max Chest Our Max Belly
Small 36-38 38-40 38
Medium 38-40 40-42 40
Large 40-42 42-44 42
XL 42-44 44-46 44
XXL 46-48 46-48 46
XXXL 48-50 48-50 48

Our Two Cents

The Icon Brigand jacket is a casual style jacket meant to look good on or off the bike. This is a short waist jacket with a look similar to a jean jacket or military style. A full set of D3O armor is included along with a removable waterproof liner.

The Brigand’s shell is made of a Cordura brand cotton poly blend. Cordura makes excellent products that have abrasion resistance designed to not wear through like ordinary cotton will. The dark indigo fabric looks much like cotton, but feels a lot more sturdy. The inside has a mesh liner in the upper chest area (to work with the front vents), and the liner is a light cotton material down lower. The sleeves are lined with a slick nylon material so the sleeves will glide on over your shirt sleeves.

Venting is provided in front in a very clever way. under the chest pocket flaps is a pattern of laser cut holes. You can fold the pocket flap up under itself to expose the holes to the wind and let some air flow through. Small vents like this won’t flow tons of air, but they’ll be helpful in warmer weather. I’d suggest this jacket for mild to warm weather. You could be comfortable in lower temps if you use your own layers underneath. For wet weather use, this jacket comes with a removable waterproof liner you can zip in.

The Brigand is offered with a full compliment of D3O armor for the shoulders, elbows and back. The D3O stuff is great… we sell tons of it as an aftermarket product and people really like it because not only is it very protective, but it is very flexible and comfortable. Its decidedly more “squishy” than lesser “stock” armor found in many other brands and will more easily form around your elbows, etc.

This is a sharp style that provides protection features and looks good for casual use as well as with the bike. :: Paul, 11-22-19
