Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart. If you plan on adding chest pads, add an additional 1” to your chest size (chest pads do add to belly size).

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is very much in line with many Dainese street/sport jacket styles. It fits trim, but true to size. If you are between sizes, or prefer a loose fit, then I’d suggest the next size up.

Our Two Cents

Are you looking for a protective motorcycle jacket that looks like a sharp dressy overcoat? The Saint Germain Gore-Tex jacket is for you. This jacket is waterproof and has removable armor for the shoulders and elbows and room for an optional back protector too. A removable insulated “destination” jacket is included along with a removable hood.

A bonded Gore-Tex layer is used in this jacket to make it waterproof. Bonding means the waterproof layer is permanently attached to the shell material so when you touch and feel this jacket there is no extra bulk detectable. The tailoring of the jacket is just excellent. It reminds me of an expensive overcoat commonly worn in cities. I can see this jacket as being perfect for urban riders who want to look sharp on and off the bike. A removable rain hood is included too. I doubt you could wear the hood under a helmet, but it sure would be useful off the bike or if you don’t have a helmet.

The removable thermal liner included with the jacket doubles as a “destination” jacket. It has a good bit of insulation in it so it should be very warm. The construction is like a “puffy jacket” but with only a moderate amount of “puff”. I always like it when motorcycle jacket manufacturers make the removable liner useful off the bike. For a traveler, it means you could pack one less bulky item. And to get another useful garment out of your purchase is always welcome too.

Dainese Pro-Armor is included in the shoulders and elbows. It’s their standard street jacket armor and is very robust. But it is comfortable and highly curved to fit your limbs without taking away from the lines of the jacket. You can add a back protector too. Just take the link below to buy.

We’ve included both available colors in our gallery. The black is classic, but I like the Asphalt color too. It is sort of a dark grey with just a little less “shine” to it than the black color fabric. Both are sharp. I really like this style if your situation calls for something dressy and non-motorcycle-ish looking. And the bonus here is that you could easily use the jacket and/or the liner for everyday wear as well. :: Paul, 05-03-19

Note about the reflective strips on the back and biceps: you can leave the strips of reflective material exposed (for safety), or you can tuck it in the fabric seam to hide it (for fashion). According to Dainese, this is a popular feature in Europe, especially in France for urban buyers.
