Sizing Information

We checked the fit on these jackets with our size mannequins and we also spot checked a few different size jackets with a tape. We feel this model runs true to size. The jackets are sold in ordinary “alpha” sizes, so you can choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If anything, they run just a bit on the snug side so if you are between sizes, I’d suggest the larger.

For those that want to check the size based upon their chest measurement, I put together the chart below. If you check Tour Master’s website, you’ll find a slightly different chart than the one below. I put this one together based upon measuring the actual inventory.

The overall cut of this jacket is ideal for street riding. It is more relaxed through the torso and not as “forward leaning” as a sport bike/race jacket. If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to check to make sure the jacket you choose will be big enough in the waist/belly. The max belly for any given size is about 2” less than the max chest in the chart. For example, a size XL has a 45” chest and a 43” max belly. Sleeve lengths are average.

Alpha Size Max Chest Size Max Belly
XS 37 35
Small 39 37
Medium 41 39
Large 43 41
XL 45 43
XXL 47 45
XXXL 50 48

Our Two Cents

The Blacktop jacket by Tour Master is a bit of a mix of features that will appeal to cruiser riders, street bike riders and retro bike fans too. The leather used in this jacket is mid-weight and is SUPER soft, so break in will really be easy. The surface finish is something in between a classic slick leather and a less finished suede so it is not super shiny like some black leather jackets. I’d call it “semi-distressed”. Also, there are some styling queues that make you think “retro” as well such as the quilted shoulders and elbows and the silver antique button snaps.

The overall quality of this jacket is quite good… better than average and commensurate with its price point in my opinion. The hardware looks to be of high quality. With the armor installed (all is removable if it’s not your thing), the jacket feels very substantial. We sell a number of cruiser or retro jackets that don’t come with armor, so this jacket having it will be a plus for most since you won’t have to pay extra for it.

This is a leather jacket, so you’ll want to wear it only for dry weather conditions, but it does have a few climate control features to allow for a range of temps. There are a couple zip vents on the bicep for warmer weather and there is also a removable thermal vest to help in cooler weather. Granted, these features aren’t great, but they’ll help some and so you can enjoy this jacket in cooler to warmer weather. You could even use the jacket in colder temps if you layer underneath with your own garments.

What’s the hoodie about? Well, I guess it is mostly for looks…. makes it appear you have a hoodie underneath. It might be practical when you are off the bike and it is a bit cooler out… you could flip it up for warmth (or for clandestine purposes?). Anyway, it is removable with a zipper if you don’t like it. Personally, I like this new style along with the other new items from Cortech and Tour Master. I think the overall quality of the materials and workmanship has improved and compares very well with other similarly priced leather jackets we sell. :: Paul, 02-07-17
