Sizing Information
We tried the size Medium in this vest on Huey and we put an XL vest on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. My advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.
If you look at Icon’s chest size estimates for each size vest, you might be choosing a size larger than you normally wear (example a person with a 46 chest typically is an XL, but using Icon’s chart you’d buy an XXL). For a vest, it isn’t good to buy it oversized, so I came up with my own advice for choosing a size based on your chest measurement.
Belly sizes are only about 2” smaller than the max chest recommendations I give in the chart, so for example, if you choose a Med vest, it will fit a max chest of about 42” and the max belly will be about 40”, so if you have a substantial mid-section just make sure your measurement there doesn’t exceed the chest size minus the 2” taper.

Our Two Cents
Take a typical Icon leather sport jacket, remove the sleeves and add some love handle armor and you’ve got the new Hypersport Prime Vest. Obviously, a full sport jacket with sleeves with shoulder and elbow armor would be more protective in a crash than a vest, but if you don’t want all that, then this vest might be just the thing. As vests go, I can’t think of another model that has sport looks and as much crash protection as this one.
The back is fitted with a D3O back protector just like you find in premium race jackets (see our photo spread). And this vest even had D3O pieces situated just above the waist on each side… like I said, love handle armor! These armor pieces look just like the D3O we sell for hips. I can imagine it would help if you fell and landed on your side.
The marketing materials mentions a pant connection zipper and a removable vest liner, but neither is here in the production unit, so scratch those… but inside there are two chest/wallet pockets and one slash pocket, and one of those chest pockets has a wire management setup to keep your audio cords wrangled in.
Overall, a super nice vest with WAY better protection than any other vest. :: Paul, 03-03-16
