We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 54 and Dewey is in a 58) and they both look great. The overall fit is snug as compared to most European sized jackets we offer. Normally we’d put our mannequins in a 52 and 56.
This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. But since this jacket style runs a bit more snugly, we recommend buying one size larger, add about 12 points to your US chest size to get the right Euro size. I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.
Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.
The overall cut of this particular style jacket is very much in line with many Dainese sport jacket styles. The max belly is about 4” smaller than the max chest which is about what we expect.

Our Two Cents
Here’s a great deal on a full-featured Dainese race leather jacket. We have two versions on sale right now… one is the solid leather and one is partially perforated leather. The remaining feature list is the same for both versions. The solid jacket (sold on this product page) is available in Black/Black/White only. And the perf version is available in Black/White/Fluorescent Red only (take the link below to view the perf jacket).
We’ve put some photos together to show you the main features of this jacket. We’re showing both the solid and perforated jackets in the photo gallery which is the same gallery on both product pages.
The Mugello jacket, introduced in late 2017 is a top of the line jacket, which really is built like the top half of a 2pc race suit. It offers nearly EVERY high-end protective race feature you can think of… level 2 shoulder and elbows armor inserts with metal external plates as well. There is also a set of elbows sliders. The leather is thicker than sport race jackets and is on par with their high-end 1pc race suits. The “full meal deal” armor package is available also (see my notes about adding a back protector and chest protectors below). You can wear this jacket as a stand-alone jacket or you could pair the jacket with Dainese race pants and take it to the track (suggested: Misano solid or perforated leather race pants). This jacket features a full race hump in the back and Dainese’s “3D” liner system for excellent breathability and wear-ability in warmer weather
Both jackets have some zips on the side of the torso to drive some air through, but the perforated version of the jacket will be more comfortable in warmer weather use while the solid jacket will be better for moderate to cold weather use.
Quantities are VERY limited so use the down menus and sizing advice to see if we have a jacket in stock for you. This really is an exceptional deal on Dainese’s finest! :: Paul, 01-16-19
Adding chest and back armor: You can add armor in the back and in the chest if you like. The back armor pocket takes any of the three back pads listed below. For the solid jacket, I’d steer you toward the Manis pro armor and for the perforated jacket, I’d say get the Pro-Armor unit to get better flow through of air. You can also add chest armor too (also listed below). The chest armor options are like the back armor… one solid and one flow through, so again, I’d suggest the Pro-Armor for the perforated jacket and the solid chest armor for the solid leather jacket. With the full set of armor in this jacket, it is a FULLY ARMORED jacket. I’m not sure what else in the store we have that would exceed this package except for one of the airbag jackets. It is really robust! There is a long zipper in back to connect the Dainese pants.
