Oxford Kickback Reinforced Shirts

We checked the fit on these jackets with our size mannequins and we also spot checked a few different size jackets with a tape. Our advice is to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Most jackets in the Oxford line fit noticeably more roomy than most brands… we call it an “American” fit, but this jacket is cut just a bit more trim than most of their jackets. I’d peg the overall fit somewhere between a typical “American cut” jacket and one of the “European cut” jackets like Alpinestars, Spidi or REVIT. It does have a trim, sporty look and is aimed toward sport bike riders.

For those that want to check the size based upon their chest and belly measurements, we put together the chart below. Measure your chest and belly and pick a size that is big enough for both. Oxford publishes a standard sizes chart however we think their chart understates the size of their jackets, so we recommend you use our chart below.

Oxford’s Kickback Reinforced shirts are made for those who don’t want the look and feel of a traditional style motorcycle jacket but want some protective capability while riding.

The shell of this jacket is all-cotton in a variety of colors. Most look like a plaid lumberjack work shirt and the solid colors look like canvas (think Carhartt). The cotton alone won’t provide much protection in case of fall, but these shirts are lined with a layer of Kevlar fabric to make them more able to hold together in case of a fall. The entire shirt is lined with Kevlar (not just the shoulders/arms as with some). The inside of the shirt is lined with black nylon material to keep the Kevlar fabric off your skin (Kevlar infused fabric can feel scratchy). The front looks like a button close shirt but the rows of buttons hide a full-length zipper to make the closure more secure so the shirt won’t just burst open if you fall. Down near the tail of the shirt on each side is a sturdy loop you can put around your jean’s belt to hold the short down to keep your torso covered if you fall. Most shirts will have small snaps to hold down the collar tips to keep them from flapping against your neck, but this shirt doesn’t have them. The collar is pretty short and very soft so maybe it won’t be an issue. If it is, you’ll have to tack the tips down with a needle and thread I guess.

These shirts don’t come with armor inserts, but there are pockets for adding armor pieces to the elbows, shoulders, and back. Take the links below to order those pieces. For about $46 you can get all the pieces. Some people won’t want the armor, so selling the shirts without the armor makes the pricing reasonable for those who don’t want it.

Overall I like these shirts and the pricing is very competitive for what you are getting. If you don’t want/need the armor, then the Kickback is one of the few riding shirts you can buy without armor and save some money. :: Paul, 08-23-19
