Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We think the fit is just about one half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest sizes for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a normally styled street jacket so there is an average amount of taper from chest to waist, which is about 4”. For your convenience we’ve listed the max belly for each jacket size, so if you have a bit of a belly, you can check and make sure the jacket size you choose will be big enough for you. If your waist is smaller, there are side adjustment straps to tailor the fit.

Our Two Cents

I really can’t say enough good things about the GT-R Air 2 jacket from REVIT. We have 5 years experience with the predecessor of this style, and we’ve had great success and positive reviews on it. This is a light weight summer style which includes armor for the shoulders and elbows. Its easy to wear and works great for summer riding. The version 2 improves the armor setup and night time visibility.

In comparing this new version of the GT-R air jacket to the original version, the significant change is with the armor. The GT-R Air 2 is fitted with REVIT’s SEESMART™ CE-level 1 armor units in the shoulders and elbows. In the previous version, it was a solid molded armor type by Knox. I really think the SeeSmart design works well in a lighter weight jacket like this. It’s better molded to your body and isn’t as thick or heavy. Have a look at our photo gallery to see what it looks like… its a honeycomb design which can withstand impact as well as heavier solid units but with less bulk. The back protector setup is the same as before… you can add a SeeSoft unit to the jacket. Just read the sizing info below and take the link at the bottom of this page to buy.

A great deal of the surface area of this jacket is flow-through mesh material. The jacket isn’t waterproof and doesn’t have a thermal liner, so its full blast air conditioning when you go down the road, so pick this jacket for 70F and up riding. For some, that means this jacket will work for 2 or 3 season and for others in milder climates probably just the summer months. But when it really gets hot out you’ll love having a jacket like this. I’ve often said that a full mesh jacket like this can actually be cooler than a tee shirt. Reason being, the jacket keeps the sun off and cuts down on windburn.

REVIT includes two ways to connect the back of the jacket to your pants. There are two simple snap-close loops you can use to attach the tail to your belt, and then there is also a short rear zipper which can zip to compatible REVIT riding pants. Alternately, you could buy one of REVIT’s Safeway belts which can be used to more securely attach the jacket to any pair of pants you have that use a belt (see below). .

I think this new version is styled a bit more sporty than the previous version, but it really could work for any type rider (depending on what color choice you make). Reflective materials are fitted on all the color choices, so you’ll have good visibility at night. :: Paul, 02-07-19

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For size XS, choose size 3; sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

REVIT says: The GT-R Air 2 Jacket is the updated version of the GT-R Air jacket. It offers the same features but with completely different look and feel.
