Oxford Toledo Air 1.0 Jackets

We checked the fit on these jackets with our size mannequins and we also spot checked a few different size jackets with a tape. Our advice is to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. And if you are sometimes between sizes, choose the smaller.

This jacket has an “American” fit, meaning it has a roomy cut and will work well for most body types included larger frame people. Those who are small-framed and those who prefer a trim “European” cut may not find a good fit.

For those that want to check the size based upon their chest and belly measurements, we put together the chart below. Measure your chest and belly and pick a size that is big enough for both. Oxford publishes a standard sizes chart however we think their chart understates the size of their jackets, so we recommend you use our chart below. You may find your belly/waist is significantly smaller than the size listed in the chart. This jacket has side waist adjusters you can use to snug the waist down to fit. The arms are also adjustable.

A larger cut jacket like this should easily accommodate the addition of a back protector if you decide to add one, so there is no need to up-size.

Toledo Air 1.0 jacket is a mostly-mesh jacket for comfort in hot summer weather. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows and a back protector is optional. A windproof/waterproof liner is also included.

We’ve just started carrying Oxford products and this is the very first one I’ve reviewed! I’m pleased with the sizing of the jacket. So many brands fit slim and trim, but the cut of this style is roomy and will work great for most body types including bigger guys. I’d compare the overall fit to Tour Master or Olympia.

The shell of this jacket is mostly mesh so it will flow tons of air for summer use. The shoulders, elbows and the sides of the torso are solid textile material to give greater abrasion protection and to give the jacket some “structure” to hold the armor in all the right places. This jacket comes with a removable liner for wet weather and also to be used as a wind-block to extend the usable temp range down some into cooler weather. Where the jacket looks really good to me, the liner is just “OK”. Where premium brands use more expensive materials for removable liners, this one is kind of plastic-y. But heck, it’ll work. But the rest of the jacket seems to be made of good quality materials and is well tailored.

The armor in the shoulders and elbows are standard issue CE level 1 rubberized, molded units, which are flexible and comfortable. The jacket has a compartment for an optional back protector. The jacket comes from the factory with a thin foam pad, more or less as a placeholder. You can take the link below to order an optional back protector. For the low cost of the back protector, I’d recommend it.

In trying this jacket on, I’m liking the effectiveness of the size adjusters for the waist, forearm, bicep, and wrist. All those adjusters are pretty darn effective so you can snug the jacket down to get a good fit. I also like how they’ve added more robust textile material over the shoulders, elbows and across the back. And the collar and the ends of the sleeves are nicely trimmed out for comfort.
