Our Two Cents
The Carbyne jacket from Fly Racing brings protective elements to what otherwise looks like a simple outer shell jacket.
The Carbyne comes standard with CE level 1 SAS-Tec shoulder and elbow armor. This armor is the new, thin SAS-Tec armor that flexes with you as you move so it is extremely comfortable while still offering CE level 1 protection. The foam back protector can be upgraded if you would like, see the related products below.
The outer shell of this jacket is wind and water resistant. It has an abrasion resistant underlay in critical wear areas and a mesh inner lining.
The angled zips across the chest and belly actually have two sections, the upper/chest section opens to a vent while the lower/belly section opens to a hand warmer pocket. There is additional venting in the underarms with a large zippered vent opening and another two-way zippered vent at the cuff.
The cuff has an adjustable hook and loop closure and the waist of the jacket adjusts with drawcords at either side. The hood uses drawcord adjusters as well and is also removable with a zippered connection and hook and loop attachments. The chest, back, and sleeves all feature some reflective material.
This Fly Racing Carbyne Jacket has a nice feel and will work for riders looking for a casual style with some protection. It should work for most riders in warm to cool weather, rain or shine. Just remember that it is water resistant, not waterproof! :: Mike, 1-27-22
