Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart. If you plan to add chest armor, add another inch.

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is one of the most relaxed of the mesh/street jackets. It is a rather boxy cut so it doesn’t taper much from the chest to the waist. It is comparable in fit to a casual jacket like Levi’s etc. The fit should be easy for most riders. Those who don’t like a slim and more restrictive cut in their jackets will like how this one is sized.

Our Two Cents

The Dainese Bora Air Tex jacket is a good choice for summer use and for those that like a jacket that has some sport styling but doesn’t fit as tight and restrictive like some sport/race jackets can be. Armor for the shoulders and elbows is included and this jacket can be upgraded with armor for the chest and back too.

All of the front and back of the torso of this jacket is mesh material, so the wind will blow right through to keep you comfortable in hot weather. The shoulders and down the outside of the arms are covered in solid textile material. With no thermal liner, this model won’t be very good for cooler weather, so consider this one for mild to hot weather. The overall styling, I’d describe as “casual sport”. The graphics are sporty, but the overall fit is more casual. It will be a practical choice for everyday street riders.

The armor included in the shoulders and elbows of the mesh jacket is Dainese Pro-Armor type which is a molded rubber with a honeycomb pattern. For a mesh style, the honeycomb pattern is ideal to allow airflow through the armor too. For optional back and chest armor, this jacket is set up with pockets built into the inside liner. The back armor pocket takes either of the two back pads listed below. For a summer style like this, I’d steer you toward the Pro-Armor unit allows air to flow through it. You can also add chest armor (also listed below) and I’d also recommend the Pro-Armor unit for the chest, again for the best air flow.

This jacket is the least expensive (as of this writing) of the mesh lineup from Dainese and I think it is a pretty good value. You get the same armor setup as all their other (more expensive) jackets with the same hot weather functionality. :: Paul, 06-12-19

Dainese says: The Dainese Bora Air Jacket borrows its name from the dense cold katabatic wind that falls down mountain slopes. Didn’t mean to bore-a ya. But that quickly descending wind relates to how the Dainese Bora Air Jacket allows air to flow, perfect for riding in warmer climates. Fresh edgy styling set the jacket apart from more traditional Dainese design. CE level 1 rated Pro-Armor at the elbows and shoulders take on any impacts. Pockets at the chest and back allow you to insert armor upgrades to complete the protection. Heavy duty mesh fabric flows air while still holding up to abrasion.
