Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is more casual than many Dainese jackets… I’d call it a street cut. The taper from chest to belly is only moderate… about 4”. For comparison, race jackets will have a “drop” from chest to waist of about 6”-8”, and very casual cruiser style jacket may only taper about 2” or even less. This jacket will work fine for most body types and it has adjustments for fit in the bicep, wrist and waist. The body length of the torso is consistent with a street/sport jacket, meaning the jacket will come only down to the belt line or slightly below.

Our Two Cents

The Dainese Air Flux D1 jacket will be a great choice for street riders or even cruiser riders for the hot summer months. The styling is very “stealth”, especially in the black color.

This jacket is super light and mostly mesh so wind will blow right though to your skin making it a perfect choice for hot summer months. Most of the shell is mesh, but the shoulders and elbows have solid material to beef up the abrasion protection just a bit. This jacket does not have any waterproofing features, so you’ll need a rain jacket over if you get into a rain.

The armor in the shoulders and elbows is a light weight hard plastic over foam type that has been around for years. It works well and is very comfortable. You can add a back protector if you like (see the note below). Contrary to some literature published by Dainese, this jacket does not have pockets for optional chest protection.

I think cruiser riders will like the all black and the Black/High Rise would work well for any number of riding styles. Both are pretty neutral with regard to styling.

Note about armor upgrades: This jacket has a pocket to insert a back protector and/or chest armor. We recommend the Pro Armor G back protector because of its light weight and its air flow-properties although the back pad pocket of this jacket can accept the Mainis D1 G or Wave D1 G as well. Take the link below to read about the back protector options

Dainese says: The G. Air Flux D1 jacket thanks to the latest generation fabrics, Boomerang and Quick Dry, takes lightness to new levels. The perforated mesh provides improved air circulation to the body and the fact that the jacket has numerous adjustments means it adapts perfectly to the rider’s body when in motion. Active safety is provided by certified, removable, composite protectors on the shoulders and elbows while strategically positioned, reflective inserts provide passive safety. To round off the technical characteristics, the jacket has been designed to accommodate G1, G2 and -Double Chest protectors- (a mistake by Dainese… this jacket does not have pockets for the chest protectors).
