Sizing Information
We tried the size Medium in this vest on Huey and we put an XL vest on Dewey. We also spot checked a few sizes with tape. Our basic advice is to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.
Fitting a vest is mostly about how the belly area fits you, so I put together the chart below to show you how big the vests are through the midsection. The chest estimate below from Speed and Strength’s standard chart. I found the max belly for each size to be about 4” less than the max chest estimates. When you choose a size, just make sure it is big enough for your belly. Overall, this vest isn’t as trim cut as some others, so if you are between sizes in the chart, I’d advise you to choose the smaller.
Size | Max Chest | Max Belly |
---|---|---|
Small | 40 | 36 |
Medium | 42 | 38 |
Large | 44 | 40 |
XL | 48 | 44 |
XXL | 52 | 48 |
XXXL | 56 | 52 |
XXXXL | 58 | 54 |
Our Two Cents
The Soul Shaker denim vest offers an alternative to leather or other materials for you vest. This one includes a removable back protector and has an easy-access panel so your tailor can add your colors to the back of the vest easily.
The frame of this vest is “washed” denim. It is soft and should immediately be comfortable. Take a look at our pics and see the zip open panel in the back for access to the vest’s back. And you can also see the the included Speed and Strength back pad (removable). It is a decent feeling back pad… definitely better than standard foam. Vest closes with snaps in front, but behind the snaps is a regular zipper for better security (in case you fall, the vest won’t just immediately fly open).
There are two zip pockets in front, two snap close pockets in the chest and one inside zip pocket. And in back, there are two snap-close loops you can use to attach the tail of the vest to your jean’s belt. :: Paul, 03-07-18
