Icon Motorhead 3 Jacket

This style jacket is sold in men’s “alpha” sizing. The jacket runs pretty true to Icon’s published sizing chart (shown below), but their size chart runs a bit small as compared to most other brand name jackets… I’d say about 1/2 size. If you are sometimes between sizes, I’d recommend choosing larger and if you are unsure of your sizing, measure your chest and belly with a tape and choose a size from the chart:

The Icon Motorhead 3 jacket continues Icon’s line of premium leathers with full D3O leather.

Much like the Motorhead 2, this version has very subdued styling. The chest and rear have Icon branding, but it blends in with the body of the jacket for a clean look. The only accents are hidden reflectives at the back of the neck and near the elbows. The reflective bands blend in with the other accordion panels in these areas, but reflect light very well for great nighttime visibility.

With the thickness of the leather and the included removable thermal and waterproof liners, this jacket is made to function well in cool to cold temperatures in various levels of precipitation. There are small vents on the shoulders, two way vents at the cuffs with two very large rear exhaust vents for warmer weather. The Icon branding on the chest is also perforated for a little more airflow, but that would be pretty limited on it’s own. The impressive call out on this Motorhead 3 is the inclusion of Icon’s new AirFly™ stowable mesh panel. This panel runs the length of the front zipper and you can either stow it, by zipping the leather outer shell together or use it to get a massive blast of air all along the torso by zipping it to the female zipper on the right side of the jacket. With the AirFly™ panel and the other vents this jacket will be comfortable in fairly warm temperatures as long as you’re moving.

The sides of the torso and back of the shoulders have a little bit of stretch to them for some flexibility on the bike. The elbows also have accordion stretch panels. The only adjustments on the jacket are at the waist, there are dual hook and loop adjusters to take the waist in by up to 2” per side. There are also two hand pockets on the belly, and a zippered napoleon pocket on the interior of the jacket that of course has Icon’s signature St. Christopher pendant inside.

The Icon Motorhead 3 jacket is a good option for the urban and sport rider who is looking for a classic leather jacket with just a hint of flair. With the liner and venting options, it should work well for most riders in cold to fairly warm temperatures. :: Mike, 07/28/2022
