Sizing Information
We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.
We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger. I found the Poseidon 2 to fit a bit more closely than other REVIT 3/4 style jackets. Its primarily a street/touring jacket rather than an adventure style, so that is to be expected. So when in doubt on the size, you’ll probably need to go larger.
Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is not a “sport” oriented style so there is not a lot of taper from chest to waist, and with a style like this you can effectively tailor the fit of the waist with the side waist adjusters, which makes the jacket look great and fit great, so don’t worry if your waist/belly is smaller than the max. We only list this for those that have a belly so they can know what minimum size they’d have to choose to fit the belly.

Large | 39-41 | 41-43 | 41 |
XL | 41-44 | 43-45 | 43 |

Sizing Tip for Those Using Upgraded Armor: Adding upgraded back protection and chest pads will take up some room in the jacket so when making your size selection add to your chest size if you plan on using the thicker back protection and/or chest protectors. I’d advise you to add 1” if you use an upgraded back pad and also an inch for chest pad upgrades. So if you plan on buying both, then add a full 2” to your chest size before making your size selection.
Our Two Cents
The Poseidon 2 GTX jacket is a full featured and very well armored touring jacket. This one will give you four season functionality and one of the most robust armor systems in the business. Protection from rain will be one of its strong suits.
The Poseidon 2’s shell is a bonded Gore-Tex fabric. The Gore-Tex waterproofing is bonded to the back of the shell material to give the most bullet proof waterproofing in the business. Because the Gore-Tex is bonded to the shell, and not a separate layer behind the shell, it means the shell won’t get “waterlogged” and won’t get heavy and hard to dry out after a rain. The bonded construction jackets like this also have very effective venting for summer use as compared to waterproof jacket with a mid-liner. There are two vents on the sleeves and two HUGE triangular vents on the front. Many of REVITs jackets have these chest vents. They’ll work so much better than simple zippered vents because of the large area that you are opening up. And the way the vents are constructed, you can open/close them with one hand with the jacket still on. In back there are two vertical zippers to allow air to escape. All the zippers are constructed as to not leak when closed up.
The armor package here really has it all. Level 2 armor is already in the shoulders and elbows, which is the same heavy duty stuff REVIT adds to their best adventure jackets. And then, you can add a level 2 back pad and level 1 chest pads. For a jacket that is geared toward touring, that is really a comprehensive package! One other component to help you with crash protection is the extra layer of abrasion resistant material on each elbows. Its a “super fabric” made of a base of tough material with little nodules of ceramic material added over the base designed to slide without wearing through. Its really tough stuff. We often see this material added to the heel area of the palm of better gloves.
Being a touring style, you’ll want plenty of pockets for storage and this one has two large lower pockets and a variety of pockets inside. On the back, is a large fanny pack too. The exterior pockets have waterproof zips and storm flaps to keep your stuff dry.
One other unique feature is the removable storm collar. Its also Gore-Tex and when installed with bridge the opening between your jacket and helmet to shed water over the shoulders rather than water coming down the collar. Its kind of high and you won’t want to wear it all the time, so it is made to zip off and then underneath is a regular touring style collar with an adjustable snap.
This jacket really is the best of the best in the world of touring/street jackets. Add the matching pants for a complete outfit with consistent features and materials (see the link below). :: Paul, 10-24-18
Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.
Add Chest Protectors: Choose the Seesoft Divided Chest Protector using the link below. One size fits all. You get two chest protector pieces. The two pieces install in pockets on each side of the jacket’s main front zipper.
REVIT says: The Poseidon 2 GTX Jacket is lighter, more flexible, more versatile, easier to adjust and offers even more on-demand airflow, provided by our patented VCS|aquadefence (Ventilation Control System). On top of that, we’ve also added a removable GORE-TEX® storm collar to the jacket, for the times when it gets really rough and tough out there.
