Sizing Information

We checked the fit on these jackets with a tape and also with our Fit Check mannequins and find that they run consistently one size larger across the board than what is shown in Tour Masters’ size chart. Most people can find a fit by choosing one size smaller than they normally wear in men’s clothing.

If you would like to choose a size based upon a chest and belly measurement, I’ve put together a chart that shows Tourmaster’s official chest estimates, and also our estimate of max chest and belly for each size.

The overall cut of this jacket is ideal for street and touring riding. It is more relaxed through the torso and not as “forward leaning” as a sport bike/race jacket. The sleeve length feels about right for average height people.

Our Two Cents

The Draft Air model from Tour Master has been a “staple” item for many years. It is one of the best basic mesh jacket values around. Sure you can find “better” mesh jackets with more features and a higher build quality, but for the price, this one looks good to me and a lot of people who shop with us.

Lots of people have four full seasons where they live and ride and the summer season is hot. And when you live in a climate like that, an avid rider will have a good full mesh jacket for the really hot weather and another jacket for the cooler months of the year. Mesh jackets like this one are so inexpensive, it is really affordable to take this approach.

The Draft Air 3 includes just the basics for comfort in hot weather and no more. Good quality, a full armor set, good styling, a removable windproof/weatherproof liner and of course the full mesh construction. That’s the basic recipe here. A comment on the liner… having a removable liner extends the functionality of this primarily summer jacket just enough for convenience. You’ll use it in the occasional shower, or maybe on cool mornings. It will keep you from having to pack another jacket in transitional weather. Anyway, I say they are a nice thing to have.

Another noteworthy feature is visibility…this jacket has some reflective piping for night time visibility. And Tour Master’s reflectives generally work well. We have some night shots in our photo gallery which you can see by clicking the “View Larger Images” link above.

Overall, I give this jacket a thumbs up for affordability and being the basic full mesh summer jacket, and the updated styling and colors offered in this “series 3” version look great. Be sure to pay attention to my sizing advice though before ordering (see above). :: Paul, 06-03-15
