Icon Automag 2 Gloves
- AX SUEDE™ REINFORCED PALM
- D30® KNUCKLE INSERT
- Fused TPR Knuckle
These gloves fit consistently with the major American designed brands we carry such as Tour Master, Joe Rocket, FirstGear, etc, which are “normal” in fit and size. And they are a bit more roomy than some European brands such as Alpinestars and REV’IT! that typically run about a half size smaller than the American “normal” fit. Hopefully you have some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The new Icon Automag 2 gloves are a sharp sport oriented short cuff glove for street riding. These gloves are very comfortable and have some decent knuckle protection and also Icon’s new Ax Suede palms.
Like the new Pursuit CE gloves, the Automag uses the new synthetic leather called Ax Suede (read about it on their website). they really feel great and the material is supposed to be more abrasion resistant than animal leather. Does it work? I bet it does. Just look at the list of brand name products using this in their gloves.
The top of the hand is black goat skin and it feels nice too. Along the sides of the hand are expansion sections to allow the glove to expand and contract as you make a fist. Those expansion sections make for an easy fit. The knuckles are covered with some small armor pieces of energy absorbing D3O material. The protection doesn’t feel like it would be as robust as a full molded knuckle, but, on the other hand, they are light and super flexible and you won’t even know they are there. One advantage to NOT having the full molded knuckle piece is that you’ll be able to fold these gloves up easily and stow them away. The fingers have touch screen compatible thread to help you manipulate your phone screen.
The wrist on these gloves closes/adjusts with a simple Velcro tab… the non-snaggy kind too, so they won’t snag your clothes. One other thing I like here is the soft felt-like material between the fingers. Its soft and flexible and feels good too. :: Paul, 09-11-18
Icon says: Comfortable and durable, the Automag™ glove is constructed from a supple goatskin chassis with abrasion-resistant Ax Suede palm overlays. D3O® inserts add reinforcement, and the accordion flex zones ensure optimum performance while maintaining fit and flexibility. The touchscreen-enabled index finger and thumb allow you to use your devices without removal of the glove.
