Note About Shipping: Items that show an availability of “Same Day” are physically located in our Lubbock TX warehouse and will ship on the same day as ordered if you order by 2 p.m. central on a weekday (or the next working day if ordered after 2 p.m central.)
Items showing “3-5 Days” will ship as soon as we receive the item from the Dainese US distribution system which can range from one to four weeks. The Dainese US distributor relies on inventory in their US warehouse as well as inventory overseas. Unfortunately their system is not capable of giving us a more accurate real-time estimate . If you are concerned about the shipping time on any particular item showing “3-5 Day” availability, please reach us using the Customer Service link here on our website, otherwise, we’ll assume you are OK with the longer time frame for delivery.
Most Dainese gloves we’ve carried run snug like other European brands, but this particular style seems to run “normally” like other US brands. So choose the size you normally wear.
Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The Dainese Carbon D1 gloves are a nice sport street choice with some good protection features. The pricing on these gloves is moderate and the styling is sharp. These gloves come in a short cuff or a long cuff design (check the link at the bottom of this page to see the other version).
I’d recommend this glove for sport street use, but they aren’t quite up to the standards of a good race glove. They do share a lot of features you’d find on a high end race glove though. The knuckle has a carbon fiber hard protector over it and it feels secure. And behind that knuckle plate are some impact absorbing materials. There are several hard plastic “sliders” too. Like most serious race gloves, the heel of the hand has a slider which give impact protection but also promotes sliding rather than rolling when it impacts rough pavement. There is also a slider along side the pinkie finger. That slider is on top of double leather in that area. The pinkie is one of the most damaged parts of the hand in a fall so extra protection there is certainly welcome.
The short cuff version (see the link at the bottom of this page) closes at the wrist with a Velcro strap and stays on quite securely. The long cuff version (sold on this product page), has a longer cuff with some light padding on the outside of the wrist, and the long gauntlet is adjustable to fit over most jacket sleeves. This is the type of glove used with race suits and race jackets that have very slim sleeve ends around the wrist.
The things that make this glove good for street but not racing: the palm is not full leather but rather is a Clarino material (man made suede) but with goat reinforcements, the long version gauntlet is rather light duty and thin, and overall, this glove just feels lighter in weight than a race alternative such as the 4 Stroke long/short gloves. I’m not bashing this one, just pointing out why its less protective and therefore more suited to the street. The pricing reflects this, so its not a bad value, but rather just for lighter duty use. :: Paul, 08-16.18
Dainese says: Long certified sports gloves that offer a high degree of protection thanks to their knuckle carbon composite inserts. The palm and the finger joint polyurethane inserts provide extreme protection.
