Our Two Cents

The Apex RR glove is updated for 2020. This is an all-leather sport/race glove with nice features and a good fit.

Last week I reviewed the Cortech Apex ST glove which is the short-cuff version of this glove. With the full gauntlet, this Apex RR glove is built for sport and race. The gloves have good hard armor in key positions and with full leather construction, they offer a lot of protection. I wouldn’t compare these gloves to high-end race gloves, but for the money, I think they are great. They’ll be great for everyday street/sport use or even an amateur track day. The overall fit and feel are excellent and the price just can’t be beat.

The fingers are pre-curved and the sizing is relatively snug with a sport fit. The finger seams are sewn on the outside on the lower fingers which is common in gloves of this type. It makes the fit easier and more comfortable. The gauntlet has a wide Velcro adjuster to help you make the gloves work over or under your jacket sleeve. There is a second Velcro closure at the wrist to ensure the gloves stay on your hands in case of a fall.

Hard sliders with a carbon fiber look are fitted over the knuckle, in the palm of the hand, and on the backs of the fingers. There is a bit of extra padding sewn in under the leather on the bottom and top sides of the thumb and on the sides of the pinkie. All the armor pieces are well placed and feel significant (not just show). The gauntlet has a couple of rubberized protectors too.

Overall, I really like this new version of the Apex RR. I think it has a lot to offer for the amazingly low MSRP of $110. Believe me, I’ve a LOT worse gloves in this price range and very few that are even as good. :: Paul, 05-26-20
