Tourmaster Element Cooling Leather Jacket (SOLD OUT)

We tried this jacket on our Fit Check mannequins and thought they fit great. Huey is wearing a Medium and Dewey is wearing an XL (take the “View Larger Images” link above to see those pictures). We also measured a selection of jackets. Based on those checks, we recommend you buy the size you normally buy in men’s clothing. If you want to check for size based upon a chest measurement or the size you wear in a suit coat, then please use the chart below. If you are sometimes between sizes and/or measure out between sizes, I’d suggest going up. The removable liner in the jackets is substantial and when in use, you get a more snug fit.

This style has an overall fit somewhere between a sport jacket and a more relaxed cruiser style. The jackets taper about 3” to 4” from the chest size to the max belly size. If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to check yourself with a tape to make sure the size you select will work. Example: a size XL will accommodate a 46” chest and the max belly is about 42”. If your belly/waist is trim, you can use the Velcro side adjusters to snug it up around your mid-section.

I really like the look and feel of this new Element Cooling jacket from Tour Master. The leather is soft but thick and has a very soft “feel” to the surface. Break in definitely won’t be a problem. The overall feel of the jacket reminds me of styles by Fieldsheer and Teknic from a couple decades ago when the softer/thick leather was used.

Tour Master advertises these jackets as being special with regard to cooling… they say the leather is treated to retain less heat and therefore makes the jacket comfortable in warmer temps as compared to non-treated leather. I guess we’ll just have to take their word for this since it isn’t something easily evaluated. This isn’t the first brand to offer such a thing though… I’ve seen it before when FirstGear and River Road offered similar styles a few years back.

Some nice features I liked are: the “action back” on the shoulders behind the arms which helps with mobility. I also like the four front vents and the large rear vent across the back. Two of those front vents double as pockets if you like so that was a nice thing to see.

The armor in the jacket is a lighter weight and thinner “GP” type armor… meaning it is a thin hard plastic sewn over foam. It is an older style, but one that works well in a cruiser style like this where lots of people don’t like the look offered by more bulky armor. I mention “cruiser” because the jacket really could be a cruiser style, or could go sport… especially with the sport pants that can be connected (see below).

I really do like this jacket because of the styling and the overall feel of the leather. If the cooling feature works, then all the better, but even still it is a nice leather jacket. It has good climate control with the vents for summer and the full sleeve thermal liner for cold weather. And the value is good since the jacket is priced very reasonably. :: Paul, 10-24-14
