Sizing Information

To choose a size, get a waist measurement with a tape. And measure yourself a bit higher on your body than typical jeans because protective pants like this ride a little higher. Use the measurements to choose the size pant you need. The pants have some effective Velcro tabs on the waist you can use to snug the pants a bit… about two inches below the max, so that is why a range is listed in the chart.

I found the overall cut of these pants to be very roomy. Adventure style pants are prone to be roomy anyway, but these are more roomy than most. There should be no trouble wearing them over other clothes if you like and the pant legs are adjustable so they will work with any sort of boot. Given the roomy nature of the pant, if you are between sizes, I’d suggest choosing the smaller.

Our Two Cents

These new Sequoia Air Adventure Touring Pants are the vented version of the regular Sequoia pants by Cortech. Large portions of the pant shell are mesh material so the wind will blow right through the pants. With ventilation like this, you’ll find these pants to be most comfortable for mild to hot weather.

Many long distance travelers find themselves in rain from time to time, and these pants come with a removable full leg rain liner. The liner is really a rain suit pant under the pants. And at the bottom of the rain liner there is even elastic material so that they’ll fit snugly over your boots to keep rain out. The rain liner will also double as good wind block if you find yourself in cool weather which will help extend the comfort range.

The pants include both knee and hip armor. And the knee armor pocket in the liner of the pants is elongated and fitted with Velcro strips to allow you to position the armor in a high, medium or low position. The hip armor is simple foam (and removable).

When I tried on my size in the pant, I immediately made note of the relaxed cut of the pants. Those who are looking for something trim and stylish won’t like this pant, but those who want to “spread out” for long hours in the saddle will like the loose cut. And the waistband design is comfy too. It’s wide and has two large elastic panels on each side of the pants to provide some “give” when you sit. And you can adjust the tightness with the side Velcro adjusters. I also like the hefty fly zipper and the two “hook” type closures at the waist so they don’t pop open when they have a bit of tension on them.

This is a nice pant for summer weather use (including wet weather), and they’ll be comfy for long hours on the bike. Just be OK with the loose fit and looks and I bet you’ll really like wearing them. :: Paul, 05-24-16
