REV'IT! Stealth 2 Hoody

We measured and tried on all the sizes in this overshirt and developed the size chart below to help you buy the right size. The overall fit is trim… some call it a “European” cut, which means it is close fitting and will work best for those with a trim build. For most people, you’ll find that you have to buy one size larger than you usually wear in men’s clothing. The exception would be a person with a trim built who prefers the European fit.

We put a Medium and XL on our two Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. We generally buy test jackets in a Medium for Huey and an XL for Dewey (41” and 45” chest respectively) assuming these jackets would fit “normally”, and were able to get them on the two mannequins, but it was a very tight fit.

The Stealth 2 Hoody is a full featured hoody-style jacket. It comes with armor in the shoulders and elbows and features a fixed waterproof liner and a removable thermal liner.

I couldn’t decide whether this is a jacket or a hoody. It has a hood, but the rest of it looks more like a textile street jacket to me. If we call it a hoody, I’d say it was the most tailored and highest quality hoody I’ve ever seen. If we call it a jacket, I’d call it a “street/urban” style with a hood. The shell material used looks like unwashed denim and is available in either dark blue or black. The material is more than denim though. It is a cotton blend with three other synthetic fibers to make it sturdy and more abrasion resistant than plain denim. It feels quite sturdy.

The overall styling reminds me of a European military or police jacket. The material has a “crisp” look to it, which does not at all have the casual (some might say sloppy) look of a plain cotton hoody. The waist and cuffs are trimmed in a black synthetic material that feels sort of like a tough neoprene. So with the wide trim and contrasting material, it sort of looks like a hoody, but again, it’s not at all like an ordinary hoody. (OK, now I’ll stop saying hoody).

The hood is fixed and cannot be removed. To make it more usable for motorcycling, it has a small zipper built in just inside which can be closed to sort of “collapse” the hood over your neck and shoulders and prevent it from inflating when you down the road. Other hoody adaptations I’ve seen provide a snap on the back to hold the hoody down, and/or make the entire hood removable. Frankly, I prefer the snap or to be able to remove it. With this design, and with the zipper closed, it seems to want to rub the back of my head all the time and doesn’t want to stay down.

I do like the removable thermal liner. Its a sharp digital camo color, and has the style of a modern “puffy” vest. It is made so you can wear it when off the bike as well as using it inside the hoody for extra insulation.

This jacket comes with SeeSmart armor in the shoulders and elbows which is extremely thin and flexible. Thin armor like this allows for a more low profile fit which works with a more casual style like this. You have the option to connect the jacket to REVIT motorcycle pants with the short rear zipper in the back/inside of the jacket liner. The short zipper can also work with REVIT’s Safeway belt which you can use when wearing the jacket with jeans (see link below).

To me, this piece comes off as being a very “European” interpretation of the ordinary hoody. It sort of captures the vibe, but in a quirky, very expensive way. :: Paul, 10-16-19
