Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is not a “sport” oriented style so there is not a lot of taper from chest to waist. I’d describe the fit as “casual”, much like a farm and ranch jacket such as Carhartt jacket.

Our Two Cents

The Bowery jacket by REVIT is a great looking casual/urban style for street riders. This jacket is rigged for mild to cold weather use and wet weather. It comes with shoulder and elbow armor and back armor is optional.

The fabric used for the shell of this jacket is a combination of cotton and polyester, which feels quite sturdy. The look and feel reminds me of my Carhartt work jacket which is cotton, but you can feel the polyester woven in too, which will perform much better than cotton in case of a fall. The overall look will be ideal for nearly any sort of casual rider. The style would easily blend into any environment without looking like a motorcycle jacket.

The large patch pockets on the upper chest add a bit of style and they are fully functional too. And then below those are two hand warmer pockets with zipper closures. In back, there is a nice large fanny pocket that would be useful to stow the thermal liner when you need to take it out. Inside there are a couple of pockets too.

This jacket comes with SeeSmart armor in the shoulders and elbows which is extremely thin and flexible. Thin armor like this allows for a more low profile fit which works with a more casual style like this. The jacket has a pocket in the liner for the addition of a back protector which you can purchase with the link below.

You have the option to connect the jacket to REVIT motorcycle pants with the short rear zipper in the back/inside of the jacket liner. The short zipper can also work with REVIT’s Safeway belt which you can use when wearing the jacket with jeans (see link below).

I’d recommend this jacket for primarily fall/winter and early spring use. It is a solid shell that will block wind and it is also fitted with a fixed waterproof liner, so it will do well in wet weather too. It has a nice tall collar to keep wind/water from going down your neck. For even colder weather, the jacket has a removable full sleeve thermal liner.

This is a nice looking jacket that is really comfortable and functional. :: Paul, 10-15-19

REVIT says: The Bowery takes the traditional wax cotton look and applies it to a short jacket that covers the basic needs for riding in style in the wintertime. Thanks to the incorporated hydratex® membrane, it is fully waterproof. There’s also a detachable thermal liner to add warmth when needed. SEESMART™ protection is included at the shoulders and elbows while comfort panels at the upper back allow for full freedom of movement.

The Rev'It Bowery jacket is a steal at this price. I already own many Rev'it products from the sport line to the cruiser line to the retro line. For reference, I am 5'10', 185 lbs, 43 inch chest and a 34 inch jeans waist. The XL in this jacket ... (Read more...)
