These pants are very thick and although they can be unzipped into shorts, I don't think you'd want to wear them in the summer. They are very wind prove and warm. Great winter/fall pants and they are water resistant too. I got caught in the rain once in these and they worked great. Sizing is true, so if not sure, get 1 size bigger.
