Sizing Information

We find TCX boots to be very consistent in fit from one model to the next. We checked this boot and it too is consistent with other models. To choose a size, please click here to see the TCX size chart. The general width of TCX is “medium” or D to E. To compare to other brands you may have experience with, I’d say the overall fit is somewhere between a Sidi boot which is generally a bit more narrow and an Alpinestars boot which has a more generous width.

Our Two Cents

The X-Square Evo Waterproof boots are a new waterproof style which are very similar in appearance and function as the non-waterproof X-Square boots (see link below). This waterproof version has a built in waterproof/breathable liner which will keep water from coming through the boot to your foot (like any other waterproof boot does). If you take a look at our close-up pics, you’ll be able to see that the tongue of the boot carries the waterproof barrier on around the foot. The height of the tongue gaiter ends right about at the top of the foot, so this shoe/boot will only be waterproof so long as you can keep water from coming in the tops. I’d suggest a good rain pant with a stirrup, or rainproof riding gear that is plenty long.

I’ve always liked the X-Square style and I like this new updated version too. Like the non-waterproof X-Square Plus the uppers are made of a combination of textile material and suede. Being part textile cuts down on the overall weight of the boot. There are two internal plastic protectors situated over the ankle bone area on the inside and outside of the foot. There is a small patch of abrasion resistant material where the shifter will hit.

The cost of the waterproof lining in this boot is minimal, and although you might have to do some things with your rain gear or pants to make the waterproofing useful, it seems to be only a small premium for a feature that very well might benefit you. Strike that! Now that these boots are on sale you get the waterproofing AND you save some bucks! :: Updated, Paul, 12-15-14
