Sizing Information

We measured a selection of sizes in these pants and compared them to the size chart provided by Fieldsheer and found them to be very accurate. I’d recommend you choose a pair based upon your waist and inseam measurement. Be sure and measure OVER the clothes you plan to wear under these overpants. If you take the “View Larger Images” link above, you can see how the pants ride on the hips which will help you judge where to measure your waist.

The waist design in these pants provides a good deal of adjustability both larger and smaller. There is a combination of Velcro adjustment tabs on each side of the hips and there is stretch material under that.

Our Two Cents

About these pants: The new Fieldsheer High Temp Mesh pants for 2014 are your “go to” pant for hot weather. The main shell of this pant is a combination of solid textile (mostly in crash sensitive areas) and flow thru mesh material. And therefore, the primary use of these pants will be hot weather. The pants are designed as an overpant, so they are made to be worn over your street clothes, but the pants are not overly-baggy as some overpants are, and they do have a good selection of pockets both front and rear, so you could just wear them over underwear as well. As an overpant though, you’ll find a long side zipper on the outside of each leg which enables you to step into the pants, even with boots on, so they will be convenient for commuting and touring. You won’t have to find a dressing room when you get off the bike! As mentioned above, there is a good number of pockets… two in front, two in back. All are equipped with zippers to keep your items from falling out. Also, the long side zippers are “two way” meaning they zip up from the bottom as you would expect, but they also zip down from the top, which will enable you to reach into the pockets of your street clothes easily (unless you are using the rain/thermal liner which only zips bottom up). And speaking of the liner, these pants have a rainproof and windproof liner which you can use in either wet weather or to help stem the flow of cooling air when the temps drop down. The liner has long side zippers just like the shell so the “step in/out” feature works just as well with or without the liner installed. Holly tried on a pair and really liked the way they fit. Even with the liner in, they weren’t too bulky and had a nice look to them. They are comfortable too. Take the “View Larger Images” link above and see all the features. It is easy to get a good comfortable fit in the pants because of the stretch waist design along with the Velcro adjustable tabs on each side. The knees have CE armor and that is adjustable for height as well (which has become sort of a “standard feature” on pants with armor in recent years). I think you’ll really like this new design and the styling is sharp also. These pants work perfectly with Fieldsheer jackets, but a design like this could be worn with any jacket really. They offer Black and Silver. Many people who live in extremely hot climates like the lighter color. :: Paul, 12-13-13
