Sizing Information

These pants are sold in waist and inseam lengths just like the jeans or pants you buy in any store. I measured a half dozen random sizes and they seem very close to the indicated size. If anything they are exactly on or a tad smaller, so if you are between sizes, I’d advise you to choose the larger. Also, the cotton will likely shrink just a bit (like normal jeans or dockers).

Our Two Cents

Cortech’s DSX denim riding pants offer a good blend of practicality, comfort, and protection. Right out of the package, I was very impressed by just how normal (and stylish) these jeans appear on the outside. Further inspection reveals that these are not your ordinary pair of jeans, but have been tailored specifically with riders in mind. The seat and thigh area is roomy and comfortable, and the legs are boot cut to accommodate… boots. The five pocket design includes large openings for easier access for gloved hands, and the pockets are nice and deep which should keep everything secure. It is the protective features of these jeans that really set them apart, though. Perforated leather panels are integrated into the seat of the pants, as well as the knees. Combined with the heavy duty 13.5 oz denim and double stitched construction, these jeans should offer very good abrasion resistance. In addition, there is removable C.E. approved armor for the knees, which can be positioned just right with the attached Velcro. A comfortable polyester mesh liner is used to cover the leather on the seat and knees, and also acts as a pocket for the knee armor. With the knee armor removed, you would have no idea that you weren’t wearing just a normal pair of comfortable jeans. These pants should be great for cool to hot temperatures, but might leave you feeling chilly on colder mornings as there is no wind protection. They are obviously not waterproof either, so you will want to bring along some rain gear or opt for more dedicated riding pants for longer trips. Cortech DSX Denim Pants - Looks like a normal set of jeans, just a bit heavier. The leather panels in the rear and knees seemed to disappear while walking around the house. The knee pads however were bothersome. (Read more...)
