Sizing Information
These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, so selecting a size is basically pretty easy. For most people, you would choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. Alpinestars publishes a super-complicated size chart which can be used to pick a size based upon your chest and waist. We’ve condensed their chart down to make it easy to read (see below). We checked the fit with the size Med and XL on Huey and Dewey and they fit just about right for a sport cut jacket.
This is a sport cut jacket and that means the overall cut is tapered from the chest to the waist. The chart below pretty well describes the max belly dimensions for each jacket size. For average builds this won’t be a concern, but if you have a bit of a belly you’ll want to make sure you are choosing a size that is big enough for both your chest AND belly.
Jacket Size | Chest Range | Waist/Belly Range |
---|---|---|
Small | 37.5 to 39 | 31 to 32.5 |
Medium | 40 to 41.5 | 33.5 to 35 |
Large | 42 to 43.5 | 36 to 37.5 |
XL | 44.5 to 46 | 38 to 40 |
XXL | 47 to 49 | 40.5 to 42 |
XXXL | 49 to 51 | 43 to 44.5 |
XXXXL | 51.5 to 53 | 45 to 47 |
Our Two Cents
Many people now own a summer jacket like this T-GP Plus Air jacket for use in hot weather. It is made of a combination of textile and mesh, but there is plenty of the mesh used to allow a lot of air flow and therefore we are going to call this a summer/mesh style. The overall cut is for sport riders. The sleeves are slightly pre-curved and forward reaching. I really like the looks of the white jacket (although I’m not sure I could keep it clean!). Alpinestars gives you more protection options than any other maker of sport jackets (that we sell anyway), which is a bit unusual in a lightweight summer style like this, so if protection is a priority, you’ll like these features. The jacket comes with removable protectors in the shoulders and elbows and has some thin pads positioned in the chest and in the back area. Those chest pads and the back pad can be upgraded though if you want more (see below). There is also a long zipper for connection to Alpinestars pants (another feature you don’t usually see on a mesh style). Like other Alpinestars products, the overall quality is top notch and the tailoring looks expensive (I guess you get what you pay for… unless it’s on closeout that is. ha!). This jacket was a steal. Fits perfectly, and actually looks way better in person. Love the mesh, while WA doesn't get the hot summers of the south, we still cook up here once in a while :) MCG thanks for the awesome bargain! These go nicely ... (Read more...)
