Alpinestars Messenger Drystar Gloves

I found these gloves to run just a little on the tight side compared to other brands, so if you are between sizes, I would recommend ordering the larger size. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.

The Alpinestars Messenger Drystar gloves are a fairly lightweight glove that still offer waterproofing and insulation for warmth. These were made for the commuter who needs all weather performance in a package that isn’t bulky and packs small. The Messenger gloves are made from a combination of a polyester shell with a polyurethane/polyamide palm (think rubber gloves). The advantage to synthetic materials instead of leather is that the gloves will not soak up rain like leather would, and should dry out much faster than a leather glove would. The Drystar lining is listed as being breathable, but as with most waterproof membranes, I found my hands getting sweaty just sitting in the office. For that reason I’d only recommend these for cooler weather (they should do great as light weight spring and fall gloves). There is also an elastic draw cord in the gauntlet that will help prevent unwanted wind and water from entering, and reflective piping on the back adds some night-time visibility. Unfortunately there isn’t really any armor or palm reinforcement on these gloves. This keeps the weight and bulk down, but at the expense of some crash protection.
