Sizing Information

These jackets run small as compared to other common “alpha sized” jackets we sell. Those with wide shoulders will find them to run about a full size smaller, while those with not-so-wide shoulders might find them to be about 1/2 size smaller than normal. The following chart will help you pick a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. Pick the smallest size that will accommodate both your chest and belly.

Jacket Size Max Chest Size Max Belly Size
Small 38 34
Medium 40 36
Large 42 38
XL 44 40
XXL 46 42

Our Two Cents

The Air-Flo jacket offers advanced armor protection in a basic, all-black “free air” design. The outer shell is mostly mesh material with a more sturdy solid textile material layer in key positions to provide extra abrasion resistance. The jacket comes with molded CE protectors in the shoulders and elbows. These protectors are installed between the mesh lining of the jacket and the outer shell. And they fasten in the jacket with Velcro strips – very much like Vanson’s design. This allows you to have some adjustability as to where the armor actually resides in the sleeve and shoulder so you can move them up or down for the most comfortable fit. Like other “free air” designs, this one comes with a removable full-sleeve liner. You can use the wind-stop liner in the mornings when it’s cooler, then remove the liner and store it away when it warms up. This feature extends the usable temperature range of the jacket significantly. We found FirstGear ’s Mesh Tex jacket style to be very popular due to the simplicity of the design and the not-so-flashy looks, and I think this one offers the same approach, but with a more robust armor system. With the jacket, consider the matching Air-Flo Mesh Pants for a complete warm weather riding suit.

The AlpineStars AirFlo is an okay set of mesh gear, but it's got a couple flaws that buyers should be aware of. The knee armor isn't real armor, it's just thin soft foam. The same goes for the back protector (but every jacket manufacturer does thi... (Read more...)

Ride was perfect with the Air Flo jacket and riding pants doing its job keeping us protected and cool in the tropical 31-34 deg cel heat and humidity!! The Axio Tailbags has been given a lot of positive comments and it fits any bike that needs a little storage space! (Read more...)
