Sizing Information

FirstGear sells these boots in US sizes. In trying them on, we found the boots to run true to the stated size. We therefore recommend that you buy the size you normally wear in men’s street shoes. If you are sometimes between sizes, I’d recommend choosing the larger.

The width of these boots is “medium”, perhaps a C or D width.

In case you already have experience in fitting FirstGear boots, this model, which is new in 2019 fits more “normally” than FirstGear boots from previous years. The older styles ran about one size small as compared to their stated size.

Our Two Cents

*TAGS SAY WP, NOT WP, ALSO LARGER SIZES ARE SMALL : DISCONTINUING

The Strato Air boots by Firstgear are new for 2019. It’s great to see some new boots from FirstGear! This boot is a traditional touring/street style with a mid shin height and side zip entry. It’s fully ventilated so this boot will work well in hot summer months.

First, I’d like to say that the two new FirstGear boot styles I’m looking at today, both look pretty nice as compared to boots they’ve made in past years. FirstGear boots have always been “value priced” as compared to more premium brands we sell, so we never expected the same build quality and material as those other brands, but these new boots for 2019 appear to be better quality than the older ones for about the same prices.

The Strato Air is a boot made for summer time use. It’s leather and mesh construction and the air blows right through. The leather is used in areas that will see more wear and mesh material is used for one small panel on the side of the boot (for improved airflow and to lessen the boot’s weight). Overall, I like how the boots feel and the side ankle protectors are large and firm, but comfortable. The mesh panel used on the side though feels a bit “light duty” to me. As I said, it’s only used in a small area so it probably won’t matter, but I prefer to feel materials that have more abrasion resistance than this.

The sole feels firm and made with a moderately low profile so these boots should work with nearly any kind of shifter. The insides of the boot are quite plushy and comfortable too. Like any good motorcycle boot, the shin, heel cup, and toe box are reinforced and feel pretty sturdy. For the price, I think this boot is a good choice. The pricing is a good fifty dollars below other similar non-waterproof styles we sell. :: Paul, 02-26-19

FirstGear says: The Strato Air brings race boot features and sidewalk-ready good looks to a comfortable all-day boot. The semi-rigid poly mesh and 100% perforated cowhide leather upper provides the proper amount of ankle support with great ventilation while the padded shin and heel panels provide impact-absorption and protection. Features a closed cell foam insole for extra comfort and an oil and petroleum-resistant outer sole for perfect peg traction.
