Sizing Information

Alpinestars boots are very consistent from one model to the next and in trying on this style, we find it to be consistent with their published sizing chart and most previous Alpinestars boots.

If you know your best size from previous Alpinestars boots, then I’d advise you to choose the same size, or just use the chart to select a size based on a US street shoe size. I’d consider the width of the men’s sizes to be normal to slightly wide (D or E).

Our Two Cents

Today I’m looking at two new boots by Alpinestars. Both are “air” variants of namesake boots that are also available in waterproof versions. These two new styles, the Ridge 2 Air and the Roam 2 Air, are SO similar I’ll just let you know about both in the same discussion.

Both these boots are made largely of perforated Microfiber (synthetic leather). And those perfs allow air to easily flow through the boot. And the liner, being a meshy sort of synthetic material also allows air to pass readily. So both these styles are offered for comfort in hot weather. Both have Alpinestar’s standard touring sole which is substantial and comfortable. The boots have a modest heel and there is reinforcement inside the sole in the shank area, which will remain stiff if you put weight on the pegs (important in a motorcycle boot).

The boots close on the outside with Velcro straps which allow a bit of adjustability for fit across the instep and also how tightly they fit around the neck of the boot. The rim of the neck is VERY well padded so break-in should be easy.

Like most other quality motorcycle specific boots, these have reinforcements in the toe box and also around the heel. I do feel a bit of reinforcement on either side of the ankle bone, but frankly it is not as substantial as I commonly find in TCX or Sidi boots.

Oh, I almost forgot to point out the difference in the two styles…. well, that’s easy…. The Ridge 2 is shorter and the Roam 2 is taller. Take the View Larger Images link above to see some shots of the boots with the ruler so you can see how tall they are exactly.

Nice boots overall… Alpinestars consistently builds good quality products (including boots) and their offering of two height boots in a design just for summer comfort is great. :: Paul, 03-29-16
