Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and they fit great… you can use the size chart to order a pair based upon your waist measurement and inseam.

About the size chart: The size chart below is partially ours and partially REV’IT’s chart. REV’IT has struggled to develop a consistent chart for the US market and make the products fit the chart, so we’ll have to give you the best advice on fit we can on a product-by-product basis until they are able to become consistent. They HAVE gotten better in the last two years than in years past though, so kudos for that.

The size ranges in the chart were made assuming the pants would be worn over underwear or light clothing. If you are wearing the pants over jeans or similar heavy pants, you’ll want to err to the larger size if you are between sizes, or just go up to the next size if you are at the max range of a size. The waist size adjustment straps work pretty well to give you size adjustability… we estimate about 2” as the range indicates.

As you can see in the chart, the pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so choose the inseam you normally wear in slacks or jeans. The pants also have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length) which can be accessed by pulling each leg inside out (see our photo gallery for a pic of this). Velcro allows you to set the armor in different spots and you can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best. Neat!

Pant Size Waist Range Inseam Reg Inseam Short Inseam Tall
Small 29-31 31 - -
Medium 31-34 32 30 34
Large 34-37 32 30 34
XL 38-41 33 30 35
XXL 41-43 33 30 35
XXXL 44-46 33 30 35

Measurement tip: With a style like this that MAY be used as an overpant, you’ll want to measure your waist over the clothing you intend to wear under the pants. And measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles (so relying just upon the size jeans you buy might result in motorcycle pants that are too small). Right below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.

Our Two Cents

I’m not the guy with the most trim waist in the shop (understatement), but I modeled the size XL pants for the close-up photo spread. I did that because I was impressed with how these pants fit and how trim they look and feel… even on a big guy like me. A lot of riding pants with removable thermal liners get pretty bulky looking, but although these pants have a thick liner, they still look great on.

The overall functionality of the pants is pretty classic… a textile shell, a mesh inside liner and a waterproof barrier between those two layers to keep out moisture. Since the pants have a “fixed” waterproof liner, they will perform great to keep out water and they’ll be warm as well… especially when using the removable thermal liner. But even though they have some thigh vents, they won’t be comfortable in anything warmer than “mild” weather. Those vents will introduce some air past the shell, but the air won’t pass on through to your skin because of the fixed liner. Therefore, I’d recommend this pant for mild to cold weather use and especially if you need a pant that is waterproof.

The pants have excellent armor in the hips and knees…. very substantial and CE rated. The hip armor pieces are the best offered in any brands we carry.

The overall design of these pants is for use over underwear, but they could be used as overpants if you size them right (see my sizing advice above). The big difference between this pant and an overpant is that this one doesn’t have the long side zipper to facilitate putting them on OVER clothes like a true overpant. There is a short side zipper with a gusset to help get your leg through. The fixed liner design doesn’t work well with a long side zipper…sort of defeats the purpose of a fixed liner to have a big long zipper that will probably have some leaks.

There are some other nice features on this pant that you can see by going through the photo gallery, so I’ll refer you there by clicking the “View Larger Images” link above. Overall, a very nice pant design…. the fixed liner will perform better than all other designs and the plushy removable liner will keep you comfy in cold weather too. The overall cut is trim even though the pants are well insulated and also looks good on us bigger guys, and finally the pants are a REV’IT! product which means you are buying quality materials and a great finish. :: Paul, 09-25-14

The Rev'It back protector works great in the Vapor Jacket, and the Vapor pants are also a great product. The Vapor pants are a very Euro fit. They are snug but not tight. The waterproof barrier is an added bonus. I wore the entire ensemble thi... (Read more...)
