Klim Outrider Pants

I measured a selection of these pants and found the waist size of the pants to measure out consistently at 2” larger than the stated size. Most men’s jeans will be sized this way these days…. it’s called vanity sizing. We recommend you measure your waist or the waistband of your favorite jeans to see what size pants you need. Although the waist on these pants isn’t adjustable, there are belt loops so you can adjust with your own favorite belt.

Inseam on the regular size pants is about 32” and inseam on the tall size pants is about 34”.

To get a feel for what these Klim Outrider pants are all about, think “heavy duty cargo pants with armor” and you’ll get what you were envisioning. The material used in these pants is heavy duty cotton/nylon blend, it’s a Cordura product made to provide abrasion protection that plain cotton just can’t give. If you’ve ever felt the heft of heavy work pants like Carhartts then you’ll have the idea… the pants are much more heavy duty feeling than plain cargo pants, although from appearances, that’s what they look like.

The pants are fitted with D3O level one armor in the hips and knees. The knees have a great adjustment setup… the armor drops in a large pocket from an opening in the front of the pant and affixes in the pocket with Velcro. That means you can reach down while wearing the pants and “stick” the armor wherever you like. Neat! Granted, armor positioning is a one time setting sort of thing, but it is a handy way to do it. The way the armor pocket is constructed, it gives two layers of the Cordura material over the knee area.

The rest of the pant is pretty standard stuff… hand pockets in front, patch pockets in back and a side pocket for your phone (what would be your tool pocket in work pants). Overall a great, comfortable and durable pant that “looks” like normal jeans but has the protection you want for riding. And compared to other jeans we sell, the price is very reasonable I think. :: Paul, 04-20-17
