Sizing Information

I measured a sampling of these pants and developed a chart to help you choose a size. My best advice would be to measure your waist (just under your belly button) and choose a size based on the measurement. These pants are made to be worn over street clothes, so when you measure, do so over the clothes you think you’ll be wearing under them. The waistband is adjustable down in size by about 2”-4” to help you customize the fit (but doesn’t adjust larger). The large adjustment will help you tune the fit over different clothes. If you think you’ll be wearing these pants over underwear only, you may find you will be ordering a size smaller than you’d ordinarily buy.

Below is the selection chart I put together based on my measurements. The waist sizes are about two inches larger than other “alpha” sized pants we’ve carried from Icon, and considering these will be worn over your clothes, that makes sense.

Pant Size Max Waist Inseam
Small 32 33
Medium 34 33
Large 36 34
XL 38 34.5
XXL 41 34
XXXL 44 34
XXXXL 46 34

Our Two Cents

These Raiden DKR Monochromatic Waterproof pants are built for tough duty for sure. The overall style is decidedly “adventure”, but they could be worn in a variety of riding circumstances. The basic construction is that of an overpant… protective pants you wear over your street clothes to protect in case of a fall, to keep you clean and in the case of this model, to keep you dry as well.

First thing… suspenders! For a heavy duty and heavy pant like this, you’ll love suspenders… especially with the weight of the armor and whatever you load up in the pockets. The waist is a adjustable of course, but having suspenders means you don’t have to tighten the waist down a lot and it will make a longer rider more comfortable. Also, if you do more physical riding (up and down on the pegs), you won’t be tugging to keep your pants up. If you don’t need/want the suspenders, they are detachable and then just store them away.

The overall fit of these pants is “relaxed” which makes them ideal for wearing as an overpant. And they have a long side zipper on the inside of each leg so you can get them on over boots and your street clothes without having to find a place to change clothes. The waist is adjustable with two large side Veclro straps. The legs ends are adjustable with a couple snaps. The leg width at the bottom of compatible with taller/heavy duty boots typically worn in adventure riding. And the legs are double reinforced on the insides of the legs and on the knee to hold up to the wear and tear of adventure riding.

The pants have long zippers down the inside of each leg so you can wear them over your boots and street clothes without having to change clothes. Those long side zips are waterproof units and the pants chassis is waterproof too, so you wear these in wet weather with confidence. Temp range would be on the cooler side as there are no provisions for venting. The material lused in the pants is a heavy nylon with a sharp honeycomb pattern built in. Overall the pants are very sedate without much “badging” (hence the name “monochomatic”).

These pants have knee armor inserts by D3O which is Icon’s “go to” brand of armor. The armor is ideal for pants like this since it is soft and flexible and comfortable. The armor slips in a “triple position” pocket. You can choose which pocket to slip the armor into which places it higher or lower on your leg so you can get a goof fit. I think that is a terrific feature. These pants also have D3O hip armor and it is installed in pockets inside. :: Paul, 05-01-18

Icon says: Our most adventure-ready pant to date, the RAIDEN DKR Waterproof Pant is the choice companion to the DKR Jacket. Sharing the same HYCOR chassis as the jacket, further lengths have been taken with full seam sealing and full-leg waterproof YKK® zippers. Housed within the chassis is a full complement of D3O® impact protectors – both hip and knee. Removable boot stirrups and suspenders are also standard.
