Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jeans and found them to be significantly bigger in the waist than most jeans Normally, jeans will measure out about 2” larger in the waist than the stated size, but these jeans measure a solid 4” larger than the stated size. For example the size 36 jeans measure out to about 40”. Additionally, these jeans are made of a stretchy Cordura blend of denim.

My primary advice would be to order one size smaller than you normally wear in jeans. If you want to measure your waist, take the number you get and subtract 4” and choose that size. For example if you measure out at 40”, you probably wear size 38 jeans, and in this jean, you’ll want to order a size 36. If you find you are between two size selections, go down… I advise this just because of the stretch nature of the fabric. I makes it possible to be comfortable in a more snug jean.

I measured the inseam in both a size 32 and a size 36 and both measure out to about 33”, so I’m assuming all sizes are about the same inseam.

Our Two Cents

The Icon MH 1000 jeans is a new offering by Icon that offers a similar feature list as the Icon Akromont pants, but in a more “regular” cut pant. D3O armor is included in both the hips and knees so these jeans represent a pretty good value with all-in armor.

As I mention, these jeans are a “regular” cut… not loose or relaxed and not skinny… but just somewhere in the middle. Caution: read our sizing advice… these jeans are running one size larger than you’d expect based on the size.

Like the Akromont, the jean material is a sturdy Cordura/denim blend that should be significantly more abrasion resistant than plain denim. Out of the package, the jeans look like pre-washed levis with a uniform medium blue wash (the Akromont looks unwashed), and the stitching is gold.

These pants have knee armor inserts by D3O which is Icon’s “go to” brand of armor. The armor is ideal for pants like this since it is soft and flexible and comfortable. The armor slips in a zip close pocket from the front. That pocket has two fabric divisions in it. You an slip the armor into anyone of the three pockets. Each pocket is at a slightly different height, so you’ll be able to adjust the armor position for your own height easily and without taking the pants off. I think that is a terrific feature. The inseam will be long enough for most and if they are a bit long, you could either hem them or just roll them up and bit. The knee area has an extra layer of Kevlar fabric to beef things up. The seat does not have extra reinforcement.

The stretchy nature of these jeans makes them comfortable to sit in and the looks are quite standard, so I think they have wide appeal to motorcyclists that want protection, but also a standard look off the bike. :: Paul, 09-14-18

Icon says: Riding jeans with all-day comfort, the MH1000 are at home both on and off the bike. Constructed of a CORDURA® fabric [3]stretch denim chassis that retains the authentic look and feel of cotton denim, but with added abrasion resistance. DuPont™ Kevlar® knee reinforcements plus 3-position D3O® knee and hip impact protectors are what keep this casual-looking piece anything but. The relaxed fit allows for maximum range of motion. The MH1000 are jeans for the unassuming rider.
